Daniel Bryan is going to announce his retirement tonight on Raw. This being wrestling I'm still a bit skeptical, but I think this is probably legit. The guy had a great career and can walk away before doing further damage to himself.

I am guessing it will be a big swerve..... he thinks he can still wrestle, he wants to still wrestle, WWE needs him right now.....

If true..... he had one of the biggest moments in WWE history. Was a great worker, I didn't really care for his fans that consistently pushed for him to beat Brock, nonetheless another blow to WWE. Thanks for the great matches Bryan. Had a memorable career.

I figure he got the news just like Edge did about continuing to take blows to the head, neck, and back = wheelchair. People are all over concussions in football but I'd bet there are far more concussions in pro wrestling.

Great ending to RAW with Bryan about retiring from WWE. He could always go to another promotion to wrestle but based on what he said, it seems he's done for good. Either way, from ROH to WWE he had a great pro wrestling career.

Sad to see Bryan go. This "PG Era" is massively devoid of talent and another one is going.

WWE botched his career. They had a mega-star on their hands and they did what they could to ruin him. I'm sure they'll keep him around in a non-wrestling capacity to leverage his popularity.

I'm about 75% sure I saw him VERY early in his career, wrestling in a gym in rural Mississippi, masked, as the American Dragon. Then, Bryan really re-energized my interest in pro wrestling in the mid-2000s when he was in Ring of Honor. His Glory by Honor match with KENTA is still one of the most memorable matches I've seen as an adult, but almost every match he was in there was 4/5 or better. His matches with McGuinness, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Homicide, Colt Cabana, and others are a pleasure to watch and re-watch. I was also fortunate enough to attend Wrestlemania 30 live, to see his biggest career moment. This is a huge blow to the industry. My interest in WWE petered out when he got injured the first time after winning the title, and with him and Punk both gone now, I've got very little interest in watching at all.

I don't have cable at home, but have been catching some of the AJ Styles stuff at the gym over the last couple of weeks. Apparently several New Japan guys are being brought over in some capacity, but McMahon will probably screw that up.

If this is really it for Bryan--and from what he said, I suspect it is--then he will be tremendously missed.

NJPW stars Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson from the Bullet Club, which AJ was a part of will be coming to the main roster. Also Shinsuke Nakamura from NJPW too, will start in NXT and then be brought up soon to the main roster. Yes my worry is how will Vince handle these guys but so far AJ Styles has looked good. Samoa Joe is also coming from NXT to the main roster soon. The main roster is starting to have better matches versus a few months ago. If you haven't yet, you should watch NXT.:wink1:

I couldn't agree more. I'm mostly indifferent about the current WWE product, but I absolutely love NXT. NXT has actually made me a fan of divas matches. The Bayley/Sasha matches were probably some the best the entire company produced last year. I'll be sad when some of the top talent gets their call-up to the main roster, but I actually have faith Triple H will keep NXT well stocked since it's his baby.

I had WWE Network for a long while, but found myself not watching it very much and canceled. Partly out of frustration due to their terrible booking and PPVs. But NXT has definitely been a bright spot on that channel for awhile. . .mostly. KENTA didn't seem to translate well, which was bothersome to me. Same thing with Ultimo Dragon came in years ago, and WWE didn't know what to do with him. Matt Bloom also thrived in Japan, but WWE mishandled him, as well. Though that may not apply to everyone, I do worry about Nakamura. He's certainly got the potential to be a huge deal if the stars align the right way. He's as talented as anyone else going today.

I know this is probably misguided, but I have faith that they won't fumble it with Nakamura. The guy is a great hand in the ring and has tons of charisma. If he can learn enough English to cut a passable promo the sky is the limit.
