Anyone else remember JBL doing the Nazi salute when they were in Germany. No suspension, nothing. :lol

Glad to see Brodus in the main event on RAW. About time they recognize talent and put it where it belongs.

I guess WWE has finally admitted that Tensai is a huge flop.

Tensai failed to impress WWE officials in his pinfall victory over John Cena on the April 16 Raw SuperShow in London, England and was deemed "a flop" as a result. He was initially pegged to face Cena at the company's Over the Limit and No Way Out pay-per-view events but his poor showing in the main event match led to his push being curtailed and Big Show taking his place. WWE also canceled plans for summer live events to be headlined by Tensai and John Laurinaitis vs. Cena, instead replacing the former tattoo artist with Big Show.

Though Tensai has yet to be defeated on television, he suffered his first pinfall loss before a WWE crowd in in a dark match following Monday's Raw SuperShow—to Cena. He is being largely relegated to WWE Superstars while his character is retooled. He has already undergone character tweaks as he appeared sans robe, competed more aggressively and had his named modified within the past two weeks. More changes could be in the works as there was talk this past week of his character being further modified.

Poor Albert. The Writers make him look like fat shredder then eat through some jobbers, then they put him against the top guy straight after the Jobbers and beat him. A couple of weeks in and his servant is getting abuse to elude to a possible split. Then he is a henchman for Big Johnny after having no connection to him. No wonder his character has gone tits up. Relegate the writers not the guy who is jumping through hoops for the morons in charge.

Writers are to blame, but I just don't think this is a guy who is gonna be able to go over here in the States. In Japan, maybe his size and look are gonna be perceived as genuinely intimidating, but I just don't think it works here. Plus, he's got all that Albert/A-Train baggage.

:lecture:lecture:lecture :exactly: Said this pretty much verbatum the night Tensai debuted. :lol

Hey guys, I can't say I follow wrestling right now, but I do know vaguely the various stars going. Is it a good time for wrestling right now? I've been watching a lot of classic WWE bios and vids recently. The Roddy Piper one is great, what an entertainer.

Anyway, I was thinking about how the 80s and early 90s of wrestling seemed like a golden era for characters and storylines...but was also ____ POOR for in ring action, minus Main Event and the PPVs.
I mean, Superstars was 99% stars vs jobbers. AND BAD LAME JOBBERS.

Then I remembered how in the 90s it all turned around and you could get awesome matches on regular cable shows like Raw and Nitro.

Was it simply cable and competition between those that led to great matchups? Without the competition is WWE still providing good matches on basic cable? Or do they still horde it all until PPV?

Anyway, debating whether its worth watching again as my wife and I are having a good time watching the old stuff.

Have to admit, my interest in WWE was pretty nil during Stone Cold, Cactus Jack, DX, HHH etc era. Probably because I didn't like any of the characters. Not "comic booky" enough or something. Anyway, is it a good time to watch again?

ATM, WWE is slowly slipping to the suckass point where it was in the 90's when WCW spanked them in the ratings war. Unfortunately, the only major competition, Total Nonstop Ass Wresting, is even worse. :monkey1

Its pretty sad thinking that I'd rather watch Bad News Brown or Koko B Ware over some of the most hyped talent from the previous decade.

Didn't see this mentioned yet:

In accordance with its Talent Wellness Program, WWE has suspended Randy Orton for 60 days effective today for his second violation of the company's policy.

I disagree with Nam, in the sense that I don't think WWE is much worse or better than it was over the last few years. I think we do tend to view old school WWE with rose tinted glasses, considering that most of the matches in the '80s and '90s were pretty cringeworthy. Watch a house show on WWE 24/7 to see what I mean. Moondogs, Bushwackers, Brutus Beefcake, the Natural Disasters, Hillbilly Jim, etc. hardly ever had a match worth watching. But some of the characters were fantastic, the stories were often quite good for what they were (the Hogan/Macho Man falling out was masterful), and there were some excellent matches from a handful of guys.

Today's WWE has some things to appeal to different fans. There's been a recent move toward highlighting former indie talent like CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, and Claudio Castagnioli, which is good if you enjoy in-ring action. And Brock Lesnar returned, which makes for good drama when he doesn't speak. But Cena's always the main event, comedy acts get more attention than they deserve, women's matches waste our time every week, McMahon is gone from TV, and in fact, there really aren't that many great characters.

Watch a few weeks' worth and determine for yourself if it is worth watching. So long as Punk, Bryan, Jericho, and others of that ilk are getting TV time for good matches, then I'll keep watching. And that's been my mentality going back 10 years or so, when I really only watched for Benoit/Guerrero/Malenko/Regal/Angle, and wasn't particularly interested in all the other junk.

D'oh! On the bright side, that's a prime spot for someone to step up and take while he's gone, since Orton was always in a 2nd tier PPV match.

Not really. That pretty much sums it up. Whereas in the old days, the WWE had actual talent that could entertain you if the shows were bad, nowadays, you're watching 2hrs to maybe get 5-10 minutes of decent mat time and now they're moving to 3hrs. It's painful. Hell, King's not even all that funny anymore.

Yeah, King lost his edge a long time ago. Funny that JR seems as sharp as ever, but he's been replaced by Cole, while the tedious and predictable, unfunny King is on every single week.
