All these crazy dictators being deposed. Wether or not the people who fill this vacuum will be any better remains to be seen. But still, power to the people :rock:rock:rock

:rock :rock :rock

Yeah, it's only going to get worse. Still nice to watch a bastard fall.

It is great! :rock

I'm happy to see woman out there openly protesting without being all covered up! Kick 'em in the nuts, girls! :clap

But I worry about what Iran is doing now. And I also don't want us involved in it. Let those bastards blow the ____ out of one another. They've been doing it since the dawn of time.

I'm sure Lara Logan felt the 'liberation'.

And why did Iran support Egypt's 'revolution' but crush their own? Why are we not supporting the Iranian protestors? Lots to think about...

It's ok. Acquiring a pet clone for sexual purposes isn't half as despicable as wiping out whole species for mindless interaction with non-human acquaintances.

I love this one.....

Awesome.

I'm not sure how to take that remark.

It's because of that kind of treatment that women over there have to stand up for their rights. It won't change until they do.

Take it as the element that initiated the change is the element that committed the crime. I wish I could say that what you hope just happened there was what happened, but that one incident leads me to believe otherwise.

I'm not sure if you know this but it is a commandment from God in the Islamic religion for a woman to wear the hijab. I'm also not sure what your comment even means? Are you assuming they are prisoners to their "cruel husbands" demanding they be covered up and locked away from the world? The mans position in the relationship is to only encourge his wife to wear it, not demand it. Just thought you'd like to know that. :)

"Since the dawn of time" Are you referring to the ancient to present Persians? If so I agree, they have always been a real aggressive and violent presence.

The whole middle east has been fighting between themselves forever. I'm not just talking Muslims.

As for the religion part, I'm not going to argue that with you. How women are treated over there and in the west are two different things.

Absolutely. But it'd be nice if westerners could differentiate the difference between ancient culture vs religion. Sure proper Islam would seem alien to the way our world looks say in North America but don't ignore how vast the world has changed in the past 100 years too. Woman in general dressed head to toe not too long ago. A nun looks almost identical to a Muslim woman but we don't recognize that do we? :)

The Koran is addressed to all Muslims, and for the most part it does not differentiate between male and female. Man and woman, it says, "were created of a single soul," and are moral equals in the sight of God. Women have the right to divorce, to inherit property, to conduct business and to have access to knowledge.

Just having a nice conversation with you weenie :)

Women used to be treated bad over here and some still are but we are for the most part an intelligent country and are developing. I for one love women and believe in loving them not flogging them....that is unless you want me to..:naughty:naughty

Or stoning. Afghanistan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, Egypt and Iran need to learn Islam. The Koran would never condone such primitive violence.

Wow, right to the core with you eh?

Stoning is a part of Christianity and Judaism too although not practised today. People in ancient Judaism and Christianity were stoned for commiting crimes. If you don't want to get stoned, don't commit the crime. :dunno

I understand that, but this isn't really the place. I don't want this thread to get closed up due to talking about religion.

I'm still happy that these countries are throwing out their dictators. I also still believe that a lot of women in the Arab world are repressed.

I know you can do better than that.

Judaism and Christanity stopped the practice because they came to understand that it was brutal and contradicted their professed ethics of humane treatment of one another. Moral equivalence falls short when one party in the comparison stopped participating in the act.

Regardless, if they were still practicing any form of honor violence, the act would still be a step above Neanderthal, and then only because the caveman would have killed her outright, without the benefit of a sporting public spectacle.
