People vote for inherent characteristics of candidates rather than moral character. Heck, I'd give a pass on moral character as long as they have suitable paths to reach solid goals.

People voted Trump because he was a white man.
People voted for Clinton because she is a woman.
People voted for Obama because he is a black man.

That isn't appropriate. I don't care what characteristics you were born with it is the value of your actual character and policies that attract me.
