Figured I'd use my new camera to take a pic of my current Toy Story Setup.

Awesome. I need to get the soldiers and Rex. Pronto!

Why do you think they don't bend? You see them wiggle around like crazy in all the videos.

We're getting Lotos because this is a character that was intended to be in the first 2 movies, clearly they have big plans for this character both in the movie and merchandising.

Anyway, here are some better pics.

Jessie's face sculpt seems to have improved from the prototype we saw, its less square. she's still too thick around the waist though.

Awesome set up. How'd you get the string out of Slink's face though? I've been wanting to remove mine but I'm afraid to mess it up.

I actually just clipped off the string with a pair of scissors. If you do it right, the hole is practically unnoticeable.

i didn't know lotso was ment to be in the first 2. but that made me wonder if lotso would of been one of andy's toys.
Funny you should say that…

Definitely an early incarnation of Lotso.

Back on topic, I recently bought the Toy Story Collection Woody, and I’m impressed. The face is pretty good, although it’s the mouth an eyebrows that give it away.

The attention to detail was amazing (the paint detail on the hair still amazes me), however, for this to be 100% screen accurate, a couple changes are due. Penguinking97 lists some valid points.

accurate facial expression
seperated fingers like the 90's ones
still needs the stand and accurate box
still needs the awesome certificate of authenticity
Agreed.
paint that won't scratch off so easily
Wasn’t a problem for me, but if they were a little bit cleaner with the paint job (especially around the eyes) he would look much better.
no Disney Pixar labels on woody or his hat! box only
the hat can lose the holes!
Well, you can’t get rid of the labels for retail purposes. Be happy with what you have. The holes in the hat, however, are inexcusable. With the original one, the hat was packaged the same way, except without the holes.
a pullstring that has a shorter ring, longer string and goes back into his back as he speaks (like 50's dolls)
with the accurate pullstring he would have more stuffing which would make him softer and more floppy, also in the movie his head flops around with more stuffing so would he
he only needs to say these phrase in the accurate voice
howdy partner my names sheriff woody
Hey! Howdy! Hey!
reach for the sky!
this town ain't big enough for the two of us!
yer my favourite deputeeey!
there's a snake in my boot!
yeeehaw! gidyup partner we gotta get this wagon train a movin'!
somebody's poisoned the water hole!
ride like the wind! yeeeeeeeeeehaw!
Sadly, this is now an impossibility. True pull-string dolls were phased-out in the 80’s, and since they use a phonograph, it could get pretty pricey. It’s a complex process, and microchips are just plain easier and cheaper.
Also, the Roundup Gang (except Bullseye) had 9 sayings (like you said, it’s on Stinky Pete;s box BTW), but only 6 were said in the movie:
”Reach for the sky”
”You’re my favorite deputy”
”Somebody’s poisoned the waterhole”
”Yee-haw! Giddyup partner, we gotta get this wagon train a moving!”
”There’s a snake in my boot”
”This town ain’t big enough for the two of us”

Anyways, there’s also some other nitpicks I have. First of all, Woody’s belt buckle and spurs are supposed to be a flat orange, not gold. Ironically, the basic talking figure got this right. There’s also some straps on Woody’s boots for his spurs, but they were just sculpted on instead. I guess that makes him a great deal less delicate.
Also, I guess to cut back on cost, metal materials were not used, like in the bolt that holds his holster in, and more notably, his badge. It’ll probably have more to say about the other toys later.

Thanks. I've literally been a lifelong Toy Story fanatic since it came out.

Anyways, I didn't buy the Buzz because it seemed the technology wasn't there yet, and after all the new features they added, some of the features from the movie can't possibly be added.
First, the helmet. A fully retractable helmet could be possible, especially since it overlaps, and if you look closely, it still potrudes through.
The wings look pretty good with the lights and all, but they're just a little too thick. From side angles, this really shows, and makes his jetpack a lot bigger.
The karate chop action I'm not as concerned about because with the retractable helmet and wings, that seems impossible.
Another big thing is that the black trim around his shoulder joints should be soft rubber like his waist. That way, he stick his arms out directly in front of him.
The glow-in-the-dark looks nice from what I've seen, though. It could be more of a neutral shade of green, but at least it's glossy like real paint, and glows more.

As for the Utility Belt Buzz, I think it should just come as the belt, because that's all it was in the movie. Even if it isn't, if they address some of the flaws I listed, I still might buy it. All it has to do is glow and make sound effects when the button is pushed, and have hidden suction cup climbing gear in the side, as well as a rope compartment in the back.

Finally, it's probably already been said before, but I want to talk about Slinky. The Slinky Dog has stayed the same for over 50 years, and the Toy Story branded ones are no exception. It's the same one that was used in the movie (with some slight modifications by Bud Luckey), so the way I look at it, it's still legitimate.
