Is this the pic?
Gah, I haven't been so uninterested about something in a long time
what are they doing to poor Thor?
Yup, that was the pic. Dunno why it doesn't up now, I copied/pasted it directly from CBR.
As for Thor, well, I can't say I'm liking what I'm seeing. I loved the Ultimate version, but the whole "tech" thing worked, because you didn't know what the hell was up with Ultimate Thor. But 616 is well-documented to be a God, so it makes little sense to have him be all tech-ified. It doesn't fit his character is what I'm saying. But eh, I guess we'll see. There are worse things in this picture than Thor:
For real. I've just about given up on all the Marvel books. Don't read Cap, Thor, Iron Man, or Avengers anymore. Have no interest in the story lines of those books.
Yeah, those are bad. Cap is filled with propaganda (both Sam Wilson and Steve Rogers), Iron Man is 3 times the usual Bendis-Speak, and Avengers...well, there's no definitive Avengers title as of now. Personally, I'm pulling these:
-Ultimates
-Uncanny X-Men
-Deadpool
-Moon Knight
-Black Panther
-Doctor Strange
I'd say that all of them are good enough, truth be told. I have some issues with the characterization of certain characters (Strange, Panther), but apart from that, all of these titles are worthy of a purchase. Honestly though, I'd stick with the BListers if I were you, meaning Moon Knight, Daredevil and the like. The A--Listers (Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk, etc, etc) are in a really bad place right now.
Solo books are doing ok with the new characters (half of them
), it's these status-quo shifting books that I'm tired of.
Can't wait for the status-quo to go back to normal.
Yup, the solo or "mid-tier" books are just fine, it's the HUGE-EPIC-MEGA-SHAKE-UP-DON'T-MISS-THIS-EVENT books that are awful. I mean, Marvel's plan for all high-profile titles these days is this:
Event Aftermath -> One Story Arc -> Event Build-Up -> Event Tie-In -> Event Aftermath -> Closing Story-Arc -> Relaunch
The "less important" books are safe from that, but even then, they're not safe from cancellations. Eh, at least Moon Knight has been confirmed to run at least until #12, and if sales are good, Lemire will stay for more. And hey, he's been appearing in the Top 25 Advance Pre-Orders since his launch, so I'd say that bodes well.
Marvel will be announcing their full relaunch program in July, probably the 13th IIRC, but so far, we have this:
The security of the Marvel Universe is fractured. The world’s first line of defense, S.H.I.E.L.D., can no longer be trusted. The United States no longer has a super-spy agency with its best interests at heart – until now. Prepare for the U.S.Avengers!
Billionaire playboy, Roberto Da Costa, has formed an all-new A.I.M. - American Intelligence Mechanics! Endorsed by the government and positioned to replace S.H.I.E.L.D., A.I.M. is here to protect the United States from the most outlandish threats imaginable. Their mission: save the world and have fun doing it!
Speaking with The Washington Post, series writer Al Ewing offered some insight into Da Costa’s desire to form the U.S.Avengers, “He came to America in his teens, and, as both an actual and fictional minority, a South American mutant, he’s experienced the ugly side of it. But he’s seen the best of America, too. He has an absolute love for his adopted country, and he’ll fight to the end to save lives and help people.”
Also featuring the All-new Iron Patriot, tomorrow's Captain America today, Thunderbolt Ross – the Red Hulk, the high-flying Cannonball, the unbeatable Squirrel Girl (along with her patriotic squirrel legion), and more, the U.S.Avengers will dare any danger - no matter how unbelievably awesome that danger might be - to defend freedom, democracy, apple pie, bald eagles and the electric guitar!
“U.S.Avengers will be a bold, brawny book that will distill everything that you love about and everything that you fear about this great land of ours into twenty pages of high-octane patriotic action every issue,” said series editor Tom Brevoort.
Action, adventure and intrigue wrapped in the red, white, and blue! The U.S.Avengers are touching down this December!
Now, this could be either very good (Nextwave 2.0) or very, very bad (Quirky Funz ZEEOMG). I guess we'll see...
