Suburban Atlanta Police Charge 3 Boys, Ages 8 and 9, With Rape, Kidnap of Girl, 11
Monday , November 19, 2007

ACWORTH, Ga. —

Three boys ages 8 and 9 are under arrest for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl in the woods near an apartment complex, police say.

The girl's mother reported the alleged rape Sunday, leading authorities to charge the boys with rape, kidnapping and false imprisonment charges.

The victim alleges that she was playing with the boys in the yard when they took her into the woods against her will and one of the boys raped her, said Acworth police Capt. Wayne Dennard.

"The juvenile victim stated that an 8-year-old boy and two 9-year-old boys that she had been playing with earlier pulled her into a wooded area, where one of the boys raped her," Dennard said.

The three boys — an 8-year-old and two 9-year-olds — were charged with rape, kidnapping, false imprisonment and sexual assault, Dennard said. They were due in juvenile court Monday afternoon. Their names were being withheld because of their age.

Acworth Police Chief Mike Wilkie said one of the boys was accused of threatening to hit the girl with a rock before the assault occurred.

Wilkie also said the investigation is "far from over," and investigators are looking into claims that after the incident, the girl talked about it with her friends at a slumber party.

The father of the 8-year-old boy said his son had been falsely accused. Any sexual activity was consensual, and the girl accused her playmates only after her parents had learned she had sexual relations, said Brandon LeBlanc.

"There was no violence involved," LeBlanc said. "This is a clear case of a girl who didn't want to get in trouble with her parents."

He added, "In order to save her hide, she tried to blame it on rape."

The girl's mother, however, told WGCL TV in Atlanta, "They do need to be taught a lesson because if they do it to her, they could do it to somebody else," the victim's mother said. "And who knows when they become teenagers what they can do to other girls."

The incident involves children from a working class apartment complex on the northern outskirts of metro Atlanta.

LeBlanc said the kids all played together, biking or throwing a ball around in the apartment complex's parking lot.

He said his son is a third grader at a local Baptist school who loves the Atlanta Falcons and is a batboy for his church's softball league.

Cobb County District Attorney Pat Head said the boys could not be charged with felony crimes because of their age but could be tried for delinquent acts that could place them in a juvenile facility for up to five years.

Juvenile Court Judge A. Gregory Poole issued a gag order preventing the lawyers from commenting further.

Acworth, 30 miles northwest of Atlanta along the shores of Lake Allatoona, is a town of about 17,000.

Acworth police said their department has never before investigated allegations of rape where all the parties were this young.

"This wouldn't be normal anywhere, but especially not Acworth," Dennard said.

It's official. The world has jumped the shark. I mean, this is just mind-boggling if true. And I used to live in Acworth, about 2-3 miles from where this allegedly happened!

Sorry, man. News is news. And this one just a hit a little too close to home (literally, though I moved from Acworth back in '04).

I'll say this... if the girl is indeed telling the truth (and I hope she isn't, for obvious reasons) the father who is quoted in that piece needs to be destroyed.

Yes, please refrain from posting crap like this again. I don't mean to sound rude, but I really don't come on this forum to look at the latest news about how f#cked our world is. I can watch the TV or go to any news channel for that.

Yeah. This is exactly why I don't get the paper or watch the news. I don't need to be depressed by this sort of crap. I am depressed enough lately as is. lol

Damn ex! :(

Seriously, I wished the news centered around more positive uplifting stuff.. problem is.. this sort of crap sells.

We'll leave it, but I would agree - I'd rather see a squirrel waterskiing than stories like this on the forum.

And unfortunately this isn't new - there's a famous case from Britain of exactly the same kind of child on child murder.

This forum is for OTHER DISCUSSION. This topic fits. I think it is ridiculous that people can write page after page about video games and other silly stuff but somebody posts about something serious and they get told that it has no place here.

We have all things we do not want to read about. For me, its video games, something for which I have no use at all. For others, it may be this topic. Lets practice tolerance and live and let live.

SAN JOSE (CBS 5 / KCBS / AP / BCN) ― A child and two adults were hurt when a squirrel went nuts and attacked them after wandering into a San Jose elementary school classroom on Wednesday.

The door to a first grade classroom at Evergreen Elementary, located at 3010 Fowler Road, was left open when the squirrel scampered in about 9 a.m., according to school officials. The squirrel entered as students and chaperones were preparing to depart for a field trip.

An 11-year-old girl was bitten twice on the arm. Then, the squirrel went after a couple of adults in the room --
severely biting one of them on the upper arm and drawing blood, according to San Jose police Sgt. Nick Muyo.

All three victims were taken to a local hospital for observation after suffering scratches and bites; they were treated and released.

School officials said they had never experienced such an attack before and the squirrel apparently escaped right after the incident.

I soon as i saw ATL i said "it figures"

No offense to anyone that lives there.(i have family there and they never got anything good to say about it)
But at least it's not Detroit no offense to anyone there either.

poor kid! ;(

Those poor boys -- being falsely accused of rape. (Being innocent until proven guilty and all.)

And doesn't the article makes it sound like the girl was bragging about it at a slumber party, got in trouble and cried rape? I don't know. Not really enough evidance to know either way.

Yeah, I'd need to see more evidance before vilifying anyone. Especially after the Duke Lacrosse Case. Remember how people in the media were falling all over themselves to crusify them some mean collage boys?

And now in lighter news...

not surprised about the rape, but am surprised they didn't kill her to keep her from telling anyone. the bible described end times are here my friends.
