Is there ever a time when a minor deserves the death penalty?

even a country on the frontline of poverty can boost its population exponetially. over crowdedness, no work=more play/shag. booom. :dunno

generally speaking. the advancement of technology in modern science, medicine and other apps. lead to longer life expectancy/expiration date. you have generally a large population of elderly folks. 90 year olds still kicking and shagging. we have young kids having kids slowly becoming prevalent, heck even becoming a norm nowadays.

when i'll pass....i want to donate my body and organs to the feed the hungry program.:cuckoo:

The census bureau is reporting that 2010 population growth is the slowest its been since the great depression (1930).

I think it has to do with our flouridated water supply and chem trails. The government is slowly killing us off.

This is because they don't want to pay Social Security benefits.

Well, I'm a little late to the game, but I just now saw this thread. I must be blind to have not seen it before!

My two cents:

My impression is that the death penalty is less about the punishment of the criminal and more about deterring future would-be criminals. Perhaps I'm wrong. Regardless, I think it's safe to say that the death penalty has not stopped murders from occuring. I think if there weren't so many exceptions and loop holes to the death penalty, it would be more of a deterrent. For instance, if the rule was that if you are found guilty of murdering someone, no matter what your age, that you are immediately taken away and executed, then I believe it would be more of a deterrent. As it stands, many criminals die in prison while awaiting to be executed. It's a long, drawn-out process leading up to the execution. In my opinion, it's just not the terrifying, unforgiving punishment that it should be. Nowadays, they mostly just give you an injection that puts you to sleep and then kills you. How non-threatening is that? Very, I'd say. If we were to back to more gruesome, unsightly ways of execution, then people might second guess their decision to commit a crime. I'm not necessarily advocating this, I'm just stating what I think would happen.

As far as this kid goes, I'm torn. He's not a monster, as he has shown us emotion. On the other hand, he's committed a terrible act. I'm surprised that the girl survived with over 30 stab wounds. And attacking a baby? Come on. He's sick and I don't think there's much we can do to help him.

So, should we execute a 14 year old? Probably not. Do I want my tax dollars to support him for the rest of his 60+ years of life while in prison? No. Is there a compromise? Not that I see. So, I don't know what I would do if it were my decision to make.

fry the facker. in canada we have what's called the young offenderd act:slap ask anyone up here how that works:(. little fackers need some ass kickin.:gah:

There is a compromise. Support him for the rest of his 7 years of life ... and execute him when he's 21. Haha.

Like a wise man once said, "Here in texas, we have the death penalty...and WE USE IT" :lol

"They call me Tater Salad."

tell me about it. like l said before, l know a guy who stole 3 cars in one year. never sent to jail. they just gave him probation, then he did it again and then again. not sure if he was under 18 then or not.

it doesn't, pretty much sums it up..

can't touch them, can't prosecute them, they get a slap on the wrist and at 18 they get a new slate.

from theft, assault to murder, you can't touch them.:dunno

let me change that, they are prosecuted but only as young offenders and not jail time that i'm aware of, just some home arrest or juvie hall shat like that.

Depends on the crime. For stealing I'd give them one chance to change their ways and then if they repeated the offence I'd have their hands removed.

For more serious offences such as assaulting old or similarly vulnerable people they'd get no chance as people who do that are IMO iredeemable.

All the human rights do-gooders would no doubt disagree with such extreme methods but I think it's about time criminals of all ages were properly punished instead of being given community service or short sentences that essentially mean they get away with it.

I'm not a human rights do-gooders, but I disagree. I

know chopping off hands for stealing is pretty popular in Iran and Sauadi Arabia. As is hanging 15 year old girls for indecency. I think if you're patient, you guys in the UK will see the day when it's a legal institution there as well.

Dude, what the hell? Please tell me you are kidding.

Chopping off hands for having two counts of shoplifting? Dont get me wrong, I believe in being relativly hard on crime and am in favor of the death penalty and everyting; but amputation as a government sanctioned punishmet is downright disturbing.

:dunno:dunno don't do the crime if you can't do the time. :lecture

This makes me think back to days when the option was to shoplift or starve, and I smirk knowing I was always smart enough to not get caught.

yea, petty thievery, sometimes is needed for ppl to survive out there. People can understand that. Its one thing to steal a sandwich for survival and its another to steal a sandwich and kill somebody while doing it. I know some countries will cut off your hand for stuff like that, but its not a big deal in the U.S. imo, we have much bigger problems than that, But i can also understand the anger of a store that is having their merchandise stolen.
