I feel like after this rick they are going to concentrate on other characters. Might not even see a sheriff rick released from threezero.

That's an easy enough fix. I'm gonna get the DamToys body when it comes out. Pretty good likeness on both Rick and Daryl.

I decided to order. I really only wanted bearded Rick and the Governor any way. One down, hopefully they eventually make the other.

I might get this with a monthly code. Likeness is alright but it could be improved. At least the price point is reasonable.

I Pre-ordered. This will be my base Rick and that'll be all I do from Walking Dead.

Except the Hot Toys figure would't look like Andrew Lincoln if you're sticking to averages. They're a solidish company, but not the end-all and be-all of 1/6. Never were, never will be.

I love HT's products and I'm no fanboy or apologist but I don't know man; calling them merely "solidish" is grossly downplaying what they are. They aren't pure perfection in everything they do, but no company is. I get what you mean if you're only talking about their hit and miss likenesses (and I think they are way more hit than miss anyway), but you can't focus on that one and only aspect. There's an entire set to consider and you have to weigh out the big picture. When you look at the amount of releases they have, their production numbers, their ability to mass produce a product very reasonably close to the proto, their production paint, the outfits, the accessories, the bodies... it's no wonder how and why the claimed the throne. Solidish?!?! They're kings!! If you mean they're not the end all be all because they are imperfect, then no one will ever be the EABA, but they are winning this race by a mile. The are the gold standard to which everyone compares all other companies quality and pricing, and there are plenty of good reasons why.

As someone who judges a release as a whole package, I see this differently than the guys who are disappointed with the Rick sculpt. I feel not only is the sculpt pretty good in and of itself, but it's the best part of the set (the one thing that I don't like is that it seems they may have revamped the S3 sculpt they teased before into this sculpt. The accurate more wild S5 hair gives his head a whole different shape). I actually see a little fault in everything else. The paint is letting the sculpt down a bit as it looks good in some pics and not so much in others. The jeans are a touch too baggy as are the sleeves of the jacket. The hands look as bad as the ones on a $20 KO body. The Colt's handle is too dark and the boots are too light, but they both look good sculpt-wise.

Overall I would call this (and their other human characters) soldish. The one thing that I do really praise them for is keeping the price points at a level that makes sense with the advertised product. While I do appreciate that and I will be ordering this, personally I rather these be $40 more and look more like a HT product.

Yeah. Most of us wouldn't be here now if it wasn't for HT. They attracted so many ppl to 1/6 over the last 7 yrs it's not funny. Still the gold standard. They pulled me in with Clubber Lang in 2007.

Same here. It was the Bruce Wayne 2011 Toy Fair set that sucked me in and the rest is history. I would pass the older Sideshow Star Wars stuff in stores and not even look twice at it. Hot Toys broke new ground with a higher standard, continued to progress and set the tone for the whole industry. I had no interest in 1/6 when they were $40, $60, $80 because what that got you didn't catch my eye at all. I wasn't remotely intrigued until I discovered the high end market.

I see that the old-schoolers here that have been around basically since the forum was born sometimes don't understand the mentality of the newer guys like me. The difference is they were collecting for the sake of toy/action figure collecting and newer guys weren't drawn to this until a higher level of quality was achieved. And they wonder why we expect so much :lol

So far I don't see any evidence that Threezero is close to the standard of a HT figure.
I think their Heisenberg sculpt is great, but the tailoring of the clothes looks a little disappointing. The Jesse doesn't look as good as Walt imo either.

As for this Rick, I think he looks decent and is perfectly fine for it's price. The paint would have to be improved quite a bit to lift it into the same level as a HT figure. For that reason it's good to see, unlike Sideshow, that Threezero are still charging prices according to the quality of their product.

Very very well put! I already preordered this figure but to say that HT would not do as good or a much better job is well- ---- unreal!

Here is how I look at it - see ht godfather, leonidas, Hans landa, aldo, dx 13, - I mean there is no other company that has reached those levels! And many of these were their early releases!
They saw the potential, acted on it, and redefined what 1/6 accuracy is all about!

Having said that I like this Rick far better than threezero Jessie and Heisenberg ! Those two I won't touch with a barge pole! (Walter may be - but pinkman - that release hurts)

Well said, that sums up my thoughts exactly. For the price, Rick looks pretty good. If this was made by SSC, it'd be at least $240.

HT has both hits and misses, but I've yet to see anything from Threezero that can touch HT at their best. They just aren't there yet.

And the final product, if SSC made it would look nothing like the proto. it would be worse. HT's is miles a head of SSC. SSC is not the 1/6 king any longer. At least Threezero has this priced appropriately.

Yup, same here. I certainly thought the old Sideshow Bond or Buffy figures looked cool back in the day when I saw them in stores, but I was never seriously tempted to get them (even as cheap as they were). It wasn't until the more detailed HT and Medicom figures came along that I really started paying attention.

A lot of you newer collectors had the luxury to pass on certain companies for Hot Toys. A lot of us older collectors started with GI Joes and Action Man and went from there. We were glad to get what we got. I'm kind of thankful for it. I personally don't need a spot on likeness. I'm pretty happy having a decent representation of a character.
