Although a stellar paint job i think it takes away from the likeness, why so i can't seem to put my finger on..

The hair looks loads better though and of course the hands don't look like hes been shoveling **** for the past 10 years

The hands look much better but i prefer the original paint job. I agree that some of the likeness is lost with the repaint.

I agree, the original face looks better in my opinion.

I expect Dany will launch with the Dothraki outfit to go with Drogo.

That being said, the ideal outfit would be the blue one she wears. I'm not sure what it's officially called but it'd designate it as the "Mysha getup".

I would rather her have her "Mysha dress" aswell but i have a feeling she will get the Dothraki treatment. Every convo i have with a GOT fan that isn't all about the series always talks about her and Drogo. The man is like Boba Fett in popularity. I don't get it. He's cool but irrelevant.

His death triggered Dany's journey (plus Dragons!) at Essos just like Ned's started the whole conflict in Westeros. He was a true badass unlike the Star Wars character. For me the true Bobba Fett of the series is

The Mountain, he was just a big bully that despite (barely) winning the only fight we saw him in, still managed to "die" :lol

I still vote for sculpted hair on Dany. I know it would be a ***** for posing, but she is almost always prim, proper, and looking straightforward. I can only imagine that most people would pose her similarly. Plus with all the braids in her hair it would be a major PITA to style that back down to a normal look.

Sculpted hair on women usually looks crap. Otherwise it's great.

I disagree; for example, I think we all can agree the Winter Soldier Black Widow was the only one of the three variants that benefited from rooted hair. The others should have been sculpted. Or what of the BCS Amy Pond? People were clamoring for the sculpted version, which was both released and looked better, sort of...not much could fix the awful sculpt.

:hi5::yess:

I feel like you and I agree a lot on things around the forums, Yankee :lol

If you guys want sculpted hair, go buy a McFarlane toy. ;) Or a bobble-head. Or a statue.

I'm not against rooted hair; I just don't think it is the best option on Dany because of the complexity of her hairstyles. It would make it next to impossible to clean up and make shelf ready; because I don't know of a single real hair figure that hasn't come out of the box without the need for massive alterations.

I still agree with you on the need for Saul before Gus though, so I forgive you here. :pfft:

That being said, what about mixed media? Partial sculpt, partial rooting? Asmus is doing it with Tauriel, and I think that might be a feasible option here.

I thought all the BW's came out very well, including the hair.

You might as well mention Barbies if you're going to cherry-pick the worst examples. I don't want bad looking rooted hair any more than I want a bad face sculpt. If rooted is done well, it's excellent. Same goes for male figures too, it's just super hard to do short hair rooted in a realistic fashion because you can't keep the short fibers styled. And when short, sculpted hair isn't an eyesore.

So... look at the mods of the latest Thor done up with rooted hair (saw a really nice one on Facebook yesterday - looks amazing. The original looks like garbage, IMO.

This could work out to our advantage. One specific hair style, comes pre-styled and braided. Done. Don't undo the work if you don't want it to look like a bomb went off. ;) This is like the Selina Kyle thread all over again - though she has straight hair of course. Or even the Chewbacca thread. I wouldn't have bought a sculpted wookie.

At the end of the day I want an awesome looking head sculpt, including the hair. If they can't get it done with rooted, then by all means, sculpted as a fall-back. But when done right, rooted can have a level of realism just not possible from a sculpt.

To each their own; the original needed a lot of help IMO and I fear the same for the short hair on the AOU version.

I really wasn't cherry picking to be fair; I honestly couldn't think of another figure that had the two options available, hence why I used it as an example.

Care to share this? I did some Googling and didn't find it; however I found this, and I think we all can have a good laugh regardless.

Icompletely agree with you here - If the braids are tight enough to hold the hair down, then it might just work out brilliantly. Fingers crossed this is the best and most likely option; again, I'm not denying the superiority of rooted hair past a point, I just have yet to see production figures perfect it yet.

I wasn't around the forums yet for Selena Kyle, so I'm exempt there ;)
But I do agree on Chewie, a sculpted look would not have been even remotely appropriate there.

I absolutely concur here; but that's a big IF unfortunately. That being said, 3Z has proven to deliver some very detailed and highly weathered pieces so far, perhaps they're the ones to break major ground here.
