Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

Whenever these eventually come to pass, if I'm not in a nursing home or a zombie myself by then, I'll be in for Daryl (any versions), a Rick and a Michonne for sure. Any others they make I would have to think on and it probably would depend on a few different factors, like what else I had ordered/on my want list at the time.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

I saw a video back in December that stated that ThreeZero was putting the finishing touches on its Rick prototype. Kinda disappointed it has yet to go up for PO.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

why are you disappointed, you can buy chappie or alistair.

Alistair, chappie, and that titanfall fig could be perceived as insults to fans of this line. I am now reconsidering the eBay custom route for rick.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

Entitled much? ;)

I just wonder if cop uniform rick will be made in the next 2 years? Who knows when it will even be announced, or if it will even be the next figure in TWD line. Then add at least 9 months till release after announcement. Its beyond me that a record setting tv license like TWD is put on the back burner to make obscure video game figures. And pricey figures at that. Can't imagine them selling well, and definitely not as well as Rick or Michonne. I probably won't do anything in the short term, because I think I'm going all in on sideshow hoth and that will occupy me for a bit. But by now there should be a light at the end of the tunnel.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

Maybe TWD figures will all ship the month after they go up for order. Doubtful of course, but not impossible. Anyway, it's their license to do with as they please. I've maxed my figure budget for the moment, so while I'd love to see some progress as much as the next guy, I'm not in a rush. Threezero clearly know how to run their business and turn a profit, even if they don't release on someone else's schedule.

I'd expect pre-orders for one or more TWD figures before summer is out.

I understand you completely. I'm have the same issues with the LOTR line from Asmus. Heading down the same route as SST LOTR line. The Walking Dead is worse in a way. It's very popular right now and it seems like the figures would be an instant sell. It will eventually start losing its fan base though. Is that when the figure will hit?

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

This is really making me mad.
The whole plot of TWD is about the main characters dying. Shane for example would have been a hughe seller as counterpart for S2 Rick. Same for Governor later. However these two guys may still sell, but I have no hopes for a Tyrese, Hershel or any other character that might die in future. The whole Daryl hype is already calming down a little. They will sooner or later let him die too. A figure would have been an hughe hit around S4... They arereally killing their own licence there. Time for TWD to love on to another manufacture.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

I think thats a fair argument. Shane would have sold much better awhile back. I do like 3 zero. But the rollout of this line has been poor. And im being nice with that description.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

If that were the case, I don't think the show would be very popular - I wouldn't be watching it. IMO, they already kill off too many of their more established cast.

As a collector I'd rather have long delayed figures that look great than rushed figures that don't. People who will buy TWD figures in the first place will still buy them when they're released. It was never going to be possible to release characters like Hershel, no matter how early nor frequently this or any company started producing/selling figures - there are just too many characters in a line like this to release everything, so only the core or huge fan favorites should ever be expected.

You can bet the pets were a request by AMC.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

:rotfl

I had to google to see what alistair is :rotfl

And never will see Chappie :lol

But keep it up threezero!

:rotfl

As long as we get Rick, Michonne, Daryl by this year I will not lose hope. If not hopefully threezero looses the license and a company that actually wants to make figures in a timely manor gets it.

Please give me the benefit of the foreign language. :lol

What I really ment is that according to Kirkman no character is save except for Rick. And from the current development there are only Carol, Glenn, Daryl, Carl and Rick left from S1.
While I am in the same boat as you and would buy any character, I dont think that many people would be interested in a Governor for example. He was the main antagonist for a relativly long period but now that he is dead the general interest will calm down.
Same for Merle and Shane. While the characters are still bad ass, people might be more interedted in a Michonne now or a Morgan next year.
For a line like this timing is extremly important. They should have come with 2-3 after every season. When they achieved the licence they could have started with Cop Rick, Shane and an iconic Walker such as Bicycle Girl. After S3/4 people were asking for a Westernshirt style Rick, add a Governor and another Walker as "second wave" and you are golden. For the beginning of S5 they should have given us a Daryl and Merle twopack. Somewhere in between release the pets, so everyone would scream for a Michonne now.
These are all missed opportunities now as figures of Shane, Governor and Merle will not sell that good anymore as the would have some time ago (same for all those Rick variants).

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

I'm not sure the line would go as deep as some people desire, even if primary figures had started being released last year. I can't see more than about 6 non-walker characters being produced. Some characters just won't sell enough units no matter when they're released.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

True. But I would have loved to see Shane, Governor, Merle, Daryl, Michonne and Carl at least... But I might be dreaming...

No need for TWD army building. There is still McFarlane.

:goodpost:

Couldn't have said it better, they have certainly missed the boat on this one.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

Not trying to speak for skyray, but saying that they missed the boat doesn't necessarily mean that skyray personally wouldn't buy them.

I mean, honestly, striking while the iron is hot in this hobby is often imperative. Fad collecting, being in the moment with the "hype" and then moving on after losing interest, getting impatient and/or no longer caring, or having something else come along new and shiny to grab the collector's attention seems to happen a lot in this hobby. I see fad collecting and hype all over the place in the collector community.

You'll always have your die hards that will buy all the characters - alive or dead. You'll also have those would still be in for as many of the characters as possible 10+ years from now. But you do risk losing those who get into the hype/fad but move on when the next big thing (or shiny new version of something) comes along.

The positive about TWD is that it's a hugely popular show, still currently airing, and will likely remain a favorite even after it's ended......but it wouldn't be in Threezero's best interest to be so slow with getting figures out that the show ends before they release.

I mean, for TWD specific examples, I've already seen people mentioning that S1 Rick is out of date/skepticism of releasing older versions of the characters. I'm sure you'll have some who, if that's the first release of Rick, might decide to wait because they would prefer the character's current look. That would be an example of waiting/dragging their feet not working in ThreeZero's best interest.
