Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

Do you know if the show will go down in popularity next year or the year after? Or will it go up? How popular do you think Alien or Back to the Future were when they first hit theaters? Do you think high end collectibles would have sold better released with the movie or a decade or more later?

The discussion on Threezero's business practises is laughable. I'll be buying some figures when they put them up for pre-order, if no one else does, I guess my copies will be super rare. Nice.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

Not everything ends up as a Back to the Future or an Alien. I'm not saying TWD won't end up like that - it's entirely possible, maybe even likely. But that doesn't mean the issue of fad collecting and hype doesn't still stand. I've seen too many collectors say things like "I've lost interest in this, they've taken too long", and "I cancelled this version to get this one [the current one]".

Striking when the iron is hottest just makes the most sense. That's not to say the iron won't be still be hot later on, but when it comes to getting not just die hards, but also more casual collectors/or collectors who collect based on hype....

No where am I saying these won't sell - I've just said, for earlier versions of the characters and characters that have been dead for a season or two, they might have missed the hype to sell the MOST they could've sold.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

I'm not interpreting what's being said, nor trying to massage what's being said into something else. I'm only saying that the whole topic is pointless. We might as well be discussing about how much more product Threezero could sell if they priced their figures at $50 and stocked them at Walmart.

If you feel passionately about striking hot irons, send Threezero a message.

Or you will just be the sucker who ends paying full price while the rest of us get it for 50% off next year. :yess:

:lol

I'm petty confident you won't see too many figures from this line hanging around at retail and a 50% discount in the aftermarket is always possible, but from retail, pretty unlikely. Selling some for 50% markup is much more likely.

I was joking. No way these make it to 50% off. I will be buying all The Walking Dead figures no matter when they come out. I do not understand some peoples mindset of "not buying it because it took to long." I am impatient, I want the figure to release ASAP, I think more should have been released. Who knows, I keep hoping that they are working on multiple figures. Sheriff Rick, Bearded Rick, Daryl, Michonne, Carl, Governor, Tyrese, Glenn, Hershel, Maggie and then start announcing one or two every three or four months.

Now does anyone know if threezeros license cover comic book characters as well? I think 1/6th comic versions of Rick, Carl, Andrea, and Negan would sell tremendously well.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

Of course my statement in regards to missing the boat does not mean I won't buy any of the figures, not sure what gave you that impression.

My point was, Past characters that are long gone such as Shane and Merle might not sell that well now, as they would have done back during S3/S4.

You can't deny it would have made more business sense to bring our a Sheriff Rick during S1/S2, bearded Rick during S5, etc etc.
Just like Hot Toys is currently hitting the nail on the head with Age of Ultron.

Also, a lot of people have got bored of waiting and invested in customs which my prevent them from picking up any releases, if such releases ever come.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

What I'm saying is that clearly, by actions and Threezero's own words, it did not make more sense (to or for THEM) to release TWD figures earlier. They can only produce (design and manufacture) so much product in a fixed amount of time, and clearly for financial and other concerns, that time was best spent on other licenses.

I keep seeing people saying things about missing boats, and in the same breath say they'll buy all TWD figures. Clearly no boat was missed, and Threezero know this. Any reduced income by lower sales due to loss of interest is offset by increased income and sales of other properties they had to prioritize ahead of TWD. Clearly.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

I dont agree. I think they did miss the boat. If there was a market for andrea or shane, it's clearly gone or at least diminshed by now. The market was when these characters were key to the storyline. Now that theyre gone im less likely to spend my limited resources on older characters who get released years after the fact. Now maybe 3-zero didnt think these guys were money makers. But thats a different argument than we have other licenses to deal with.

And frankly, if you have other licenses to deal with (the way this is being handled) then maybe TWD license isnt for you. What business wants to hear, "sorry, i couldnt make your tv figures. I was too busy with Robocop or Chappie." 3-zero spent longer working on these items than these movies were actually in the theatres.

Meanwhile ppl are still churning out custom and bootleg products that commit the buyer's money to something other than your licensed product.

If this line goes the way of HT's green lantern or Xmen first class, any announcement by this company will carry huge doubt.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

I keep wondering what I'm saying that gives people the impression that anyone cares if they disagree? :)

If you care about the license, send Threezero a message with your concerns. Let them know that you'd love an Andrea figure too. ;)

This is a forum where ppl discuss such matters. We debate. We opine. It doesnt mean the company will read or care about anything we feel or write. But we frequent places like this to share thoughts with each other, not necessiarly with the manufacturer. I think we all know that. Three zero doesnt have to care what we think. And youre not a rep of three zero. You dont have any authority to speak for them. We get it.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

Some people love to armchair quarter-back, thinking they could do everything better than anyone else, yet not really doing much of anything themselves. Some of these people also feel they're the only ones entitled to an opinion, that whatever they say should just stand out there and not be questioned. I don't speak for Threezero, but the same way someone here might judge their actions, expect to be judged yourself. I have no problem with varying opinion and loose and drifting discussions, but the level of contradiction going on has already passed the funny point and is now firmly in boring territory.

I'm glad that the majority of folks participate here to talk about the actual hobby, the figures. Everyone else? Well, if you care, then do something about it.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

I know he is my main want after Rick so i assume others feel the same way.

Yes! Give me this!

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

The Governor is one I don't have any interest in.

Daryl, Rick, Michonne, and Shane would all be definite buys for me.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

This is the price they started at on the AMC web site, for those that remember... ;)
