Its just too hard to tell based on the size and resolution of the pic. Its possible, but its also possible its just a normal Merle too.

Granted the resolution is crap but people are still able to comment and debate about the direction of the stitching on the vests, so I think if you looked hard enough you'd see what I see.

Doesn't mean it's a zombie Merle. Could just be normal weathering/shading like the Merle proto at SDCC had and the quality of the image is making it stand out more.

I think at this point I'd chalk it up to wishful thinking Jo.
As much as I want to agree I think it's normal Merle. 
But I have no doubt they'll capitalize on zombie Merle one way or the other. I just hope he gets the full figure treatment and not a 'exclusive zombie Merle sculpt.'. Would be a missed opportunity if they didn't do a full figure.

That ship sailed into unsellable polystone YEARS ago.
Looks like dirt and a 5-o-clock shadow to me.
Once we get a few releases from Threezero's TWD figure series, it would be nice to spruce up a display with some generic-type zombies like those from Sideshow's "The Dead" line.
Some would work better than others IMO, but if a sizable number of Walking Dead 1/6 fans are already on the fence about buying official zombies from the show, it's unlikely more of The Dead would sell well enough for Sideshow to bother.

Well, Daryl is officially off my customs "To Do" list. After seeing what Three Zero has in store for us, there is no way im going to be able to do better.
Considering how expensive customs are to do, it may save me a few bucks as well.

I think for the most part.....customs are pretty much done for. Everyone's waiting for this line....however, I wish they would give some sort of listing of the characters they are planning. That way, if nothings in waiting....we'll know what we need to custom out to complete the collection or cast.

I think others major characters like the Governor are going to be obvious choices as well. Its your Beths and Miltons that are the only questionable ones I'd think.

Only ones I really want is a Michonne (to go with the pets), a Rick and a Governor. I suspect I'll cave an get Merle and Daryl as well though

I would want a governor and merle....everyone else has been covered in the customs world and I am happy wth the ones I have!
