John Daly is living proof that you don't need to be an athlete to play golf. The millions of fat, rich, old *******s that play everyday are living proof as well.

Golf is a skill sport, much like bowling. You don't need to be an athlete to play, but it does help if you are.

No one said it wasn't a sport. I just have a hard time thinking of golfers as professional athletes. A lot of these guys are staying in better shape to try to drive the ball further. They get a lot of exercise from walking the course, but not many golfers are in good shape (though most of the younger one's are). Lefty is hardly the ideal body shape of a professional athlete but he's got some skill.

Never played golf, never watched golf and have zero interest in golf.

That said, Saturday there was NOTHING on so I put the U S Open on for a few seconds cuase it looked great on HD. About 1 minute in I see Tiger woods sink a 65' putt

From there I was a bit intrigued and decided to watch, well it kept me interested for the rest of the day and all day Sunday. Needless to say I watched all day Monday in the playoff and I was at the edge of my seat

It was a blast to watch, coming from only watching football for the last 27ish years of my life I was stunned to be riveted by golf
