Could you clarify what you're talking about?

The Classics line - as in the highly articulated turtles recently released - are based on the old cartoon. They have almost no paint at all, because they're meant to emulate the look of the cartoon, which doesn't really use shading or texturing.

If you're talking about the original Classics - as in the very first line of turtles ever released in the 80s - well, those were the 80s, and paint applications were minimal and simplistic.

As you can see, it wouldn't make a lot of sense if there were "better" paint applications on the recent Classics.

Whereas the Movie Classics need them, because that's what they're supposed to look like.

Ugh! Post the movie 1 turtles not the the more light hearted movie 2 turtles. They lightened there features in the second movie because moms *****ed about them looking to scary. Each movie they looked worse and worse. By the third movie they looked like ****. Movie 1 turtles looked badass and very real even to this day.

One thing is starting to bother me about the Leo prototype.
Look at the shoulders.

They're too small, and too low.

I went ahead and emailed Playmates about it :D

Dude! Seriously?!! You've got way too much spare time on your hands :wink1: I mean, don't get me wrong, I want them to look as good as possible, but small things like that? Come on, it's a toy/figure/collectible....from playmates. I'm more concerned about the final product and the paint application on the figures, because a lot of the figures from the classic line had problems with the eyes, especially Donatello :( I think we should ALL send them an email about the quality control in those factories in china, to make sure we get figures worthy of the $20 price tag :D

The third movie wasn't Henson's Creature Shop, that's why. They looks TERRIBLE in that flick. Splinter looked even worse...

I'd be happy with figures from either 1 or 2. The designs weren't that far off from one another. Leave 3 in feudal Japan. Blech.

Yes! And please let them know about the shoulder thing! It might not be too late to have the metal dies changed.

And look! The original Movie Star turtles got the shoulders right!
Right size and placement.

Those aren't far off from III's designs. lol

Granted, but all I'm talking about are the shoulders. Either way, those turtle toys were released for the 1st and 2nd movie. The toys from the 3rd movie had samurai armor.

I knew what you were talking about. They definitely need the proportions of the movie suits.

As soon as I saw the pronounced spots on the Part 3 Turtles, I instantly thought for the 'Movie Star' figures. That's all.

I still have my Michelangelo 'Movie Stars' figure from back in the day. (At least that's what I think it is.) Sits in my car as my navigator. :rock :lol

So am I reading this correctly....those are getting a re-release?

No. The Movie Stars are not getting a re-release.
Playmates is making new, 6" tall, super articulated action figures based on the first two movies. They showed photos of the Leonardo prototype for this line at Comic Con.
Here he is:

So they're like Movie Stars, but way better.

Ah. I see. Very cool though. Thanks for the clarification.

You're mistaken. The only differences I can spot in the turtles between the first and second movie are the head sculpts of Donatello and Leonardo. Everything else is virtually interchangeable. You've probably been misled by the lighting.

This photo is from the first movie.

Leo from the first movie.

Maybe it's me but I feel raph and mikeys eyes are wider and the bandannas are more cleaner and not dirty or sweaty. I just feel the first design is the way to go for the turtles

just opened my comic-con shredder, got it signed by kevin michael richardson. the figure is really cool but they cut out the elbow articulation but still better than the regular version. there's more paint apps and the vac metal armor looks cool.
