you got him already? i thought you had to pick that guy up at the con? still think he should be holding the ring so it at leasts connects him to LOTR.

I just wish it looked more 'real'. Everyone knows I'm a big Bombadil lover, but I can't bring myself to order this. It just doesn't feel like LOTR. I know he's out of place in the book too, but this just feels that it doesn't belong.

Well Tom Bombadil is one of my favorite characters in LotR. The bust is good but does not seem to have the correct amount of Tom-ness in it imho.

They are also now readily available you can get em from GG direct or on ebay they are sometimes going for $50 with shipping. It may not be on par with the other busts and it may not even be a perfect Tom but I will pick one up when I can.

Its also better than the Royal Doulton Tom that sells for semi-grail price, when Tom wasn't even in Bakshi's cartoon either.

Alan Lee did a great sketch of Tom Bombadil that I think captures the spirit of the character much better than this bust. Now if that were made into a bust, then I'd think it would be better received. I don't think this is a bad sculpt at all. It's just that this bust looks like something you'd find in someone's flower garden.

Reminds me that back in the production days, I was sure that Peter was going to use the Maori people as the Woses. What a missed oppourtunity.
