Sigh. Yea I’m so conflicted. On one hand this looks great and venom looks phenomenal. But wtf is venom without Spider-Man? I mean I always wanted to see a proper venom vs spidey fight on the big screen. And now don’t makes this movie and it seems like Brock gets the suit and that’s it. No connection to spidey. That’s what made venom unique. He knew everything about Spider-Man and was his venom. But whatever. This is going to be interesting

Yeah the trailer is lacking a sense of it being set in an already growing universe. I wonder if they will even touch on Peter in this movie.... or if it will feel like it's own separate thing entirely.

The suit is gonna tell him to choose its form (like Gozer) and he resists until he sees a poster of Spider-Man at a bus stop right before changing in front of that guy at the end of the trailer.

I always touch my Peter.

But yes, Parker will have some little nod in there and I'm sure Carnage will be hinted at as well. I don't mind the anti Hero angle they're going with here... but I hate that they've already botched how he even became Venom.

Pssh. Venom doesn't need to have Spidey in it to be a true auteur cb movie. Only plebs want that childish MCU character anywhere near this R-rated masterpiece. :lecture

LOL!

I just don't understand how they are going to incorporate this tone into the Disney MCU, it seems too much like an X-Men story or something. If they pull it off it will be great, but chances are they wont. Spider-man Homecoming and this feel like completely different universes to me.

I'm still an outsider in regards to the MCU, but I know enough about it to know you're correct. These are two completely different animals, so it's a stretch for them to believe fans will think they're related to each other.

This seems very reminiscent to the Fhantaffic Furr rebutt.

Yeah especially since the marketing so far hasn't alluded to the fact that they are set in the same universe. I think they've dropped the ball already and don't know it. If they wanted an rated R spidey-vesre they should had said no thanks to Disney and worked on their own. Now this is just a big mix bag of "what if's?"

It's just par for the course with Fox's bad decision making. Most movie goers don't even know who the hell Venom is. Most are kids and weren't even around for Spooder Mahn 3.

It's not being billed as a Disney film, so it's not making that kinda money.

People used to know who Venom is but I don't know if he is still a popular character. He was never Superman/Batman level but he was pretty big even before That 70s Venom.

I'm completely out of touch with comics at this point. I love CBMs because I can still enjoy the characters without following a book and it's tie-ins, etc.

Most dudes my age were exposed to him during the Fox cartoon run.

See your an uncultured pleb who didn’t get the brilliance of films like LOGAN.
I’m bringing up Logan because this has nothing to do with this movie.
Tom hardy is never wrong. He is the lord of actors. You wouldn’t understand and for that you won’t get the full sense of it.

Sony’s hard R spiderberse with web sling hardcore *** is going to blow everyone’s mind and will be a benchmark in modern cinema. Sit down and enjoy it -snikt

Nah he’s still popular. Venom like it or not is the most popular Spider-Man villain. He is frequent in cartoons, games and movies. Sony knew this and that’s why this movie is being made. However this movie could ****up his rep.

Always liked the 2nd McFarlane version of Venom with the fangs, the shape of the eyes, and the grotesque gum line.

No tongue action or whatever one would call it....:lol

It's still to early to say but I might wait till the movie is released on dvd to watch it. :dunno

You would think they would play it safe and at least name drop Spider-Man in the trailer or get a glimpse of something related to let folks know. I just don't see this being successful without the general audience not being in on it. If I had no idea who or what Venom was, this trailer would just look like an average superhero movie.

I honestly do hope this turns out decent, even if it’s not connected to spidey. But I just don’t see that happening.

To the average normie, they don't know even know this is a Spider-Man movie :lol

Even if they reference the MCU, they're already shooting themselves in the foot before it's even out.

BTW, the filter they're using is incredibly annoying... where everything blue and green pops out.
