Going for variety, much as I appreciate it in other peoples collections, is dangerous for me. Because there is no end to what could increase the variety of your collection. Whereas I could conceivably buy every Terminator figure and reach a point where I have everything I want..

that is true, but the way I see it is, How many Terminators or Jokers or batmans or predators do you really need?
do you need one for each look? or one for each different scene?

I started getting Every Jason Sideshow made, but I sold a couple and trying to sell others, I just don't need every Jason they made,
I like him a lot but one or two are enough, I rather have 2 jasons and leatherface and Freddy and Frankenstein (which is what it is in my collection) than 8 jasons, I mean, the collection just looks nicer with the variety

Does anyone else wish they only had one interest or focus with collecting...anything?

****, I am into statues, action figures, prints, original art, sketch cards, LEGOs...list goes on.

On top of that I am into way too many different brands.

I wish I could stay focused on just one brand or just one type of collectible.

Tightening my focus was a very difficult thing to do.

At the height of my collecting, It was all 3 3/4" Star Wars and GI Joe. And in 1:6 scale it was Star Wars, GI Joe, LOTR, Indiana Jones, Alien, Predator, anything S.W.A.T., modern military, Planet of the Apes, and then any individual figures that I deemed to be cool enough for my shelves.

Right now I am down to 1:6 Sideshow Star Wars and GI Joe. And I will ad LOTR/Hobbit to that if Sideshow makes any more.

Sensibility keeps me from venturing back into Medicom or in to Hot Toys Star Wars. And if Hot Toys somehow does the LOTR figures, I will not buy them either. Not because they suck, but because of a combination of the cost and that Hot Toys seems to do very few figures from most of the lines they do. And I am afraid that my HT LOTR/Hobbit figure collection would end at no more than it did with Sideshow's LOTR line.

Just Star Wars for me. Makes it much easier.

That reminds me... I told myself I wouldn't bother with Star Wars (despite being a long time fan). I PO Darth Malgus PF, looking to get the Perfect Model C3PO/R2D2, and anxiously awaiting the PO for Shaak Ti. :slap

I would like you ask you guys , do you guys have any regret buys? stuff you got just being completist that you regret getting? that you sold?

My interests are quite wide reaching so i guess i'm fortunate they only get the occasional collectible made every so often or i'd be in trouble. :lol

And even when they do i won't blindly buy, it has to be of an appropriate character AND done right. For instance SSC Rinzler Maquette is of a character i like but done in a bad pose, so it's a pass.

Metal Gear Solid, God of War, Mass Effect, Marvel Comics, X-Men First Class, Spider-Man, Star Wars, Sucker Punch, Tron Legacy, Avatar, Expendables, Aliens, Adventure Kartel, World War Robot

I probably regret buying most of the Indy 1/6th stuff. I love Indy and it is my main focus but I don't display any of it except my custom Indy.

I only stick to Resident Evil. As much as I want to collect other figures, I have responsibilities. The only non RE figure I preordered is Catwoman. I wanted Black Widow, but who knows I'll probably purchase her later.

this is really really nice, I actually love this, pretty awesome :clap

I've got a little of everything but I'm cutting way back to focus just on stuff from middle-earth. So pretty much I'm out of a lot of things because I'm going all in with what means the absolute most to me.

I like collecting a variety of stuff. I just wish I didn't feel the need to own everything of everything.

Ditched the completism on Star Wars a long time ago, but still pretty much a completist on GI Joe.
