I think the new LOTR 12 inch line is just too much. I was hoping for something "new" like, Indiana Jones, Gladiator anything not the same old stuff. Show me something I haven't seen. Toy biz did the 12 inch already.

Now the question is what to collect. For me its just too much of one thing, I dont want LOTR coffee mugs next. I know theres different collectors, but I was hoping for something new.

I dont think I'll be buying much of the new LOTR, still happy with the 1/6 polystone. And still waiting for the Hobbit, I imagine WETA will do the 1/6 poly again one day.

I guess with the new SS stuff the market of the LOTR stuff is dead. I dont see anything going up in value with this much to choose from. SS makes great stuff but the problem lately is everything loses value once it ships. Thats there biggest problem, high prices which can't hold value is a bad sign for collectors. And with all the new LOTR/Star Wars stuff what happens to the already dying lines?

IMO no it's not too much LOTR. This is my favorite story and to be able to get great collectibles from it is fantastic. Also to have them done by a company like SS who has shown they do really great collectibles not to mention great CS is the icing on the cake. You won't hear this Ringer complain about too many LOTR products.

Definitely not too much for me either. I'm quite interested in this 12" line. Its an affordable price range and should be fabulous.

It will be great for those who can't afford the much more expensive line and/or are new collectors who missed out on WETA or, maybe just prefer the type of figure the 12" will be.

Sideshow seems to be a growing company, and I am sure there will also be new things for those not interested in more LotR. But for those of us who are -- WOW.

This is probably hurting the completists the most--their credit cards will never recover. I think that if you pick and choose, the three different lines will allow you to have a nice and diverse collection. Aragorn fans will be able to have both a Strider and Elessar polystone statue, an "Arms of Aragorn" weapons display, an Aragorn bust, an Elessar crown, an Aragorn on Brego polystone statue, a 12" Aragorn or two, and a 1/4 scale Aragorn as the centerpiece--all from Sideshow. I think it's great that one company offers so much variety for fans of a certain character.

I'm not going to be buying the 12" figures, but I don't think it's too much either. Star Wars has 1/4, 12", and 1:1 busts. LOTR will have just 12" and 1/4 now that the Weta line is over.

Plus, LOTR doesn't have many other manufacturers producing products. If SW can support MR, GG, Attakus, and tons of other companies, than surely LOTR can support 1/4 and 12" lines.

Have to say I don't think its too much, SS are offering a wide range of products and prices to suit all collectors but I do agree that completists are going to be selling their grandmothers to fill the line!! I am much more relaxed about the new line ups and I don't feel like I have to buy every single thing but then again some of us are thinking that way now and we all know when the announcements and releases are made its very hard not to get drawn into it all and even moreso when the product in question will most likely be outstanding!! Lead me not into temptation............... :horror

I was hoping Sideshow would do 12" LOTR so I'm pretty happy... I don't collect the PF or statues though, and I can imagine that'd be tough on the wallet to add LOTR to it.

Something new would be cool - you mentioned gladiator - that would be awesome! But I don't think LOTR will ever die.:D

I think the 12" line is great, as long as they don't make huge ES (2000 or more), that would kill the market for them.

For the first couple of releases, I'm hoping for a 1500 cap, just to build some excitement and buzz. Would be very bad for them if their initials releases of ES 2,000 or more ends up on ebay for selling below retail. That COULD start a chain reaction where people stop buying from Sideshow directly altogether => lost interest => death of line.

Hi Everyone,

I'm with everyone else here. There can never be too much LOTR.
I think the 12" Line is a nice touch. Not everyone can afford
polystone these days. Especially the older, harder to find piece
which shot up in price. I am curious as to what Sideshow
produces in this line. I was never crazy about the Toybiz stuff
except certain pieces like the Talking Gollum and Talking Treebeard.
It would be cool if some of these talk or they make companion pieces
like they did with some of the statues (ex. Eowyn and ML).
It's exciting stuff and for a die hard LOTR collector like me, I love
new items. With the Weta line almost finished, these will make nice
additions to my collection.

Thanks,
Mike

Personally, I don't think "Too Much" and "Lord of the Rings" should ever be used in the same sentance EVER!! :horror

not for me. since i don't collect statues, 1/4th figures, the small toy biz figures, etc, i really don't have any LOTR stuff, despite my love for the films. i'm very happy sideshow is now making 12 inch figures. and now there really is something for everyone and every budget.

For the first couple of releases, I'm hoping for a 1500 cap

you mean the whole run, or just the exclusive? if sideshow can sell 8,000 spike figures, i sure hope they will make more than 1,500 gandalf or aragorn figures.
at the very least, hopefully the edition sizes will be equal to their 12 inch star wars line.

Ditto!

There are many different types of collectors and Sideshow is making available a LOTR theme to each. Polystone statues, Premium Format statues and now the 1/6th scale line. To be honest, THIS is the line that I've been waiting for the longest. I began my collecting with the Hasbro 12" line and now Sideshow has raised the bar with their line. The LOTR 1/6th line has been a dream of mine since the first film opened.

lol

I partially agree with you it's been a bit much
and there's some bubble also, I'm very pleased
the line has ended but...PF? I''m not sure if it'll match
with my 1/6 line figures...take some rest sideshow !!

There's never too much LOTR ask the buyers of SW too much SW and they will gonna tell you that NO many things remain imagine how many Luke Skywalkers are Han Solo, Jabba, Leia thre is more than one version, o i think LOTR FOREVER!
