I noticed recently that the Morgul Lord and Lord Sauron PFs were pretty much selling for LESS than retail now (They were going for $1000 a pop awhile ago on eBay) so I took advantage and picked both up and WOW!!! I am so glad I picked these up, they're AMAZING! I'm not a huge LOTR fan, but I love a few of the characters so I figured I'd get them for my collection. So now I have Lurtz, Morgul Lord, Sauron and the Morio Orc is on pre-order.

So if you've ever thought about picking up these statues, nows your chance for good prices and they kick all kinds of ass!

They look a bit funny surrounded by Predators though

I thought those were just statues, not PFs? I was under the impression that Premium Format referred to the use of different types of media (polystone, cloth, metal, etc...) to make the statue. Unless, of couse, it simply refers to all 1:4 scale statues. Can someone enlighten me?

I got Sauron for $200 shipped a few years ago. Morgul Lord for $175.

Not sure where you saw these going for those prices

1000 $ for Sauron? Impossible ..not even half of this...

Right the SSW Sauron and Morgul Lord are statues, not PFs. Great statues, but not PFs the way SSC is making PFs these days.

1. Sauron at one point was selling for over $800... add shipping and it was about $1000. Morgul Lord was around $500 or $600 so that was about $800 total.

EDIT - Here I just checked... https://www.toytracker.net/weta/tracking/weta.html

2. Faken is short for Fakenrite as in ^^^^^ing Right

Maybe you guys should have looked at the eBay history on these before trying to discredit me :)

And yeah meant the statues... Anyhow, nice to see people so quick to jump on your balls here, even though it resulted in a small shipment off the failboat.

I still love you though :)

Faken, you can't go by the highs only. Those were probably fake auctions after it sold out trying to get the prices higher.

Avg, and last 5 are much better indicators.

Faken hell, they jumped on your balls quickly

I always did like the bossy ones :banana

But seriously, just to clarify, I barely use or surf eBay, too many idiots on there so the 2 or 3 times I WAS looking for these months ago, the only available items were eBay shops with $800 - $900 BINs, there were no regular auctions starting at low prices type of thing. Fast forward to SDCC chat last weekend and I was talking about these statues to someone and they told me they were going for cheap now, and that's when I found some auctions for less than retail.

Trust me, when I was looking people were asking crazy prices. The ringwraith on steed was like $2500 or something.

This is not meant as an attack, but the ebay shops/stores are always ridiculous in pricing in comparison to standard auctions. And because of that, their items usually are on there for months upon months. I've seen a store have an item for over a year (keeps relisting w/ the same high price). If you look right now at a SSW Sauron there's a BIN in standard auction format for $400 (which is still pretty high). Conversely, there is another one in the shops for $650 and that item will be there for a long time.

Also, on toytracker, I believe the calculation are done from when the first auction was reported into the software, until the most recent (years of data). So, if you throw in an AP Balrog or whatever that went for 1-5k at some point, the calculations are thrown off. Also, there are some listings that make it into one of the item ebay lists where a seller is selling more than one statue. And of course, there's always the stupid scam auctions.

As suggested earlier, look at the prices of the last 5-15 listings to get a good idea what the pieces are going for.

Are you trying to get to 50 posts?!

:monkey5

Some forums I post that per day :) I'm a bit of a forum whore  Tsk tsk... you've been here for 3 years and all you've managed to accumulate is a paltry 7k in posts? Pfft... :emperor

Young padawan of forum whorage...

Yes I know, where people went wrong in responding to me is they assumed I was talking about prices lately. When I was looking is when the LOTR was at the height of their popularity and prices were crazy. Tons of LOTR pieces have calmed down since then but I never looked since.

And again, all that I could find were eBay shops that had them up. I usually search fleabay for rare pred collectibles so I know all about the bogus auctions and such, but that's all that was available on the few times I looked for these particular items. That's actually one of the reasons I use eBay so rarely now, the days of good deals seem far and few between now, and I can't sell anything anymore because you get bent over with the seller fees + Paypal. I prefer to buy from other members from the various forums I participate on or run.

I still look at items like Sauron and the ML occasionally to see what they are going for. I remember snagging Sauron for about $165 shipped when he was released and the ML for about $150. Those were the days. Everyone was listing like crazy.
