Edit: Had title thread changed and after watching Seven Pounds tonight i realised I had to include this movie in my top ten its utter perfection!!!

The Matrix and Fightclub aren't actually this decade, just the past 10 years so excluding them, I'd go :

These lists are kinda biased and comical. Some of them deserve it. However, it makes me wonder.

Shocked that Jack Sparrow hasn't ranked on but one person's list so far.

I think "Pirates" will resonate much longer than most of the films on these lists.

2. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
3. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
4. Spirited Away (2002)
5. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)
6. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
7. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
8. King Kong (2005)

"Resonating" doesn not necessarily a good movie make.

It depends on how you look at it, but there are very few movies that are commercial and critical successes. I enjoyed the POTC movies, well the first two anyway, and they'll be enjoyed for years to come, along the likes of Star Wars & Trek, and LOTR. But did I FEEL when I was watching them? Not necessarily. I actually completely forgot LOTR on my list, which was a mistake.

LOTR and Dark Knight are examples of movies that are commerical successes and resonated with me, which is rare. Really rare. Now, this is coming from the guy who listed Superbad as one of his favorites, and that's because, well, I always laugh when I see it, and it stands out as one of the most fun movies experiences I've had in a long time (that and the Hangover as well). In ten years, will we remember There Will Be Blood, or Children of Men, or A Beautiful Mind? Probably not. We'll remember POTC. But that doesn't mean they were better movies, just more iconic. So you have to decide what you're focusing on...long-lasting appeal? Emotion? a little of both (which I tried to do)? It's an interesting thought...

I completely agree, and in fact I almost added that note. There's plenty of popular movies that are not well-done films.

But as far as "Top Films" I guess I read that as 'lasting' movies rather than well-crafted films.

Great choices LOTRFan. If I had considered the LOTR trilogy to be one movie (even though it wasn't ) I would have included Monsters Inc and Crouching Tiger as well.

I think he just meant "decade" as in the PAST 10 years.

V for Vendetta would top my list but I don't know what else I'd put on there. Too many to choose from.
