Wrong again. The 80s movies are some of my favorite movies to watch. However, I have enough insight to know that they do not hold up to the test of time no matter how much you want them too. Especially the ones that are "in the future."

It's the big ones that will live on. Terminator, Aliens, and Blade Runner. Total Recall, however well-known it may be, never reached the status of those other films.

Yes it did. It's not this cult thing. You can find Total Recall strewed all over Pop Culture.

I repeat: Aliens, Terminator, Blade Runner.

However many references are made to Total Recall in pop culture is irrelevant; it never "went down in history" the way those other films did.

Yes it did.

And Blade Runner took forever to reach it's status.

Also add RoboCop to that list too.

Wasn't Blade Runner considered a flop for many years before obtaining the cult status? I don't remember Terminator because my parents wouldn't let me see it when I was younger. When I finally got around to recording it off of HBO it was already a cult movie and T2 was coming.

Never thought the original Total Recall was anything special, never even owned on dvd. Saw the remake, it has better visuals, action and acting. Won't own that one either though.

Both entertaining, but easily forgetable movies.

:lecture I love watching the original, but only for the cliche action and one-liners.

I'm sorry you feel that way. Total Recall is amazing. And at the almost height of Arnold's career. The full step came one year after.

The original Total Recall was an awesome movie. It had great lines, interesting concepts and was just a great enjoyable ride. Arnie's charisma contributed so much to that movie.

Im also a huge fan of the orginal! Saw it when i was little and since then its always been one of my favs. it was a hit and still is to this day, I love Verhoeven, easily one of my fav directors

But i did enjoy the new film, its got steller visuals and action. They did a good job IMO.

Thought it was alright. It's forgettable but Jessica and Kate were hawt in it. The FX and designs were great too.

Why not just close this thread and start a new one where everyone can kiss the ass of the original?

:dunno

^ Great idea. I just bought the new Blu Ray, and it's great. Amazing transfer.

I have two Total Recall Blu Rays. :yess

Ugh... should've read some reviews or stop by this thread before watching it...
Seriously... I was willing to give this the benefit of the doubt... I was actually liking it quite a bit but the climax/ending has to be one of the dumbest, lamest ones I've ever seen... This movie went from OK, to good to terrible so fast it's not even funny...
It went from a 7 or 8 to a 4 in less than 10 minutes...
:yuck!!

The original still rocks!! :rock!
