Right there with ya, Neil!

TF is all about the G1/Classics toys for me. Bay's movie is just his own interpretation of TF, supported by a multi-million dollar budget. It's just an expensive knockoff.

I'm glad that rumored MOTU movie was canceled. Only the Four Horsemen are worthy of touching the property.

I don't know about nostalgia but I am 28 and I taped the original pilot/mini-series of the Transformers on Beta back in 1984 and this movie does not impress me. I will see it, I will try to see it without any bias but I think this movie won't be any good.
I know I am in the minority being that most Transformers fans on the Transfans discussion boards love what they have scene so far. They also believe that Beast Wars or Beast Machines was the best Transformers series. I must be going crazy.
I want this movie to do well, but I hope it isn't another Pearl Harbor. Frank Welker not getting the role of Megatron doesn't help, either. I guess I will just have to wait and see.
If it sucks no big deal, we still have Transformers The Movie from 1986. But until then, here's to hoping for the best.

You must be from opposite world because I belong to a Transfan forum and the majority aren't thrilled with what Michael Bay and company are doing with this picture. I am one of the few who is willing to give it a chance.

Then, my brother, thank you, thank you. I felt like a dinosaur thinking that this movie was not that great looking and longing for something a little closer to the original series.
I was not referring to the Transfan website specifically, I only used that as a knickname for Transformers Fans online in general. It is just a coincidence that it just so happens to be the name of one of the many Transformers discussion boards. Bad choice of words on my part.
I remember around the time that they first reveled a longer trailer and the concept look for Megatron that the overall reaction was positive towards the movie. When questioned a lot of reasons for liking the "new" look for the robots was a love of Beast Wars over G1. I thought the world was going looney.
It is nice to know there are others out there who feel the way I do.
Yes I will give it a chance, but I have little hope.

The original TF movie bombed, why make one like it?

They are changing a few things up, big deal. Can't be any worse than that Beast Wars garbage. And even the weekly toon wasn't high art. Once they went G2 it all went down hill.

G1 is where it is at, and everything looks awesome to me. Love the designs.

All of the very same people that are talking crap about the style of the Robots are IMO going to change their tune once they've seen it. It always happens that way, Fanboys b!tch and whine about something not looking exactly the way they want it to and when it comes down to it they see the movie and they love it.

They (myself included in that) will like-- love--- enjoy the movie as an action/sci fi movie... They (myself included) will not enjoy the fact that Starscream looks like a robotic chicken. (and in fact at one point was going to --- and might still do this -- perch on things).

I had all the toys when I was a kid, watched the cartoon faithfully and saw the movie in '86 on opening weekend. I would love to see more of the original look of the characters in this movie but I know that ain't hapnin.
I just think it's great that I'm going to hear the original Optimus' voice in this movie.
It will probably be a great action movie regardless of the new look...I hope:rolleyes:

I hope you are right, I really do. I want to believe in this film, I want to like it but everything I've seen so far just turns me off. I would love to have an excellent live action movie that makes us remember how cool it was to see maybe the greatest civil war in pop culture.
I really want it to be good, I want it to make a ton of money and have sequel after sequel. I just don't see it, hopefully I am wrong.

Include me in that group. :monkey3

This film looks great except for the actual Transformers. :lol The vehicle modes, except for Megatron:rolleyes:, look fine but the robots are horrible. :monkey2 :monkey2

Not me. I'm a "fanboy" and I'll b**** and complain all I want. :D As a diehard TF fan for 24 years there's no way I could ever love those robot designs. Frenzy??? WTF?

I think the movie "overall" will be good but the robot designs and no Frank Welker as Megatron kill it for me.

I am with you on the robot designs, from what I have seen so far. I just don't want to be let down.
The Simpsons Movie comes out that month, too. If Transformers does let me down I will just sneak into that.
