I will boycott this movie if they don't get Casey Kasem to do the voice of Cliffjumper.

That's like telling Harrison Ford he can audition for the next Indiana Jones movie. Cullen and Welker are Prime and Megatron, and that's not fanboyism, that's just straight up fact.

I agree 100%, but that's not how Hollyweird thinks. They always have to think about the stars and their bank not who is best for the part. The best voice actors in the world never get true credit for creating timeless characters.

Another voice I think MUST be kept original is Starscreams.....

Unfortunatley the actor Chris Latta (aka Cobra Commander) who played StarScream died over 10 years ago. :monkey2

totally agree with you on this one. Hollywood wants US, the paying customers, to watch a movie that consist of famous actors. The producers are investing lots and lots of funding for this film they will find all means to get that money back and more. For example, OVER THE HEDGE, Bruce Willis was the voice for the racoon who plays a major role. Why him? Why not some other guy that sounds like him? Because it is BRUCEY!!!

You know I actually thought Bruce Willis did an ok job. He's not as bad as Brad Pitt as Sinbad. Some film stars are great voice actors but some do not translate well. Pixar is pretty good at spotting talent in film actors. Craig T. Nelson was unbelievable as Mr.Incredible. So it goes both ways.

Pixar casts the right voice for the character. They manage to come up with a perfect match, so that you are seeing and hearing a unique character and not just a star picking up a paycheck. When I saw Cars, there was a trailer for an upcoming ant movie with voices from Julia Roberts and Nicolas Cage, etc. It just sounds like a famous well-paid actor lending their voice, and it can be distracting.

Albert Brooks and Craig T. Nelson might not be "big names" in the eyes of studio execs, but they were perfect choices in Nemo and Incredibles. I would argue that Elizabeth Pena did a better job voicing a sultry character in The Incredibles than Angelina Jolie did in Shark Tale. Put them in a major live action film and their would be no contest, but in the world of voice-overs, it doesn't matter what you look like or how famous you are--just how well your voice represents the soul of your character. Pixar understands that. Pretty much everybody else gets it wrong.

Well said Tom... You once again said exactly what I was gonna say... :D

Update fellas from tformers.com

Transformers movie Producer Don Murphy has confirmed that Peter Cullen has auditioned for the Transformers movie. Official Don Murphy boards member "Diabetes" posted the information in a thread to which when asked, Mr. Murphy replied, "absolutely true." It is not specified what role Mr. Cullen auditioned for. Thanks to Ol' timer of the TFans boards for the heads up!

"I've waited a long time for this!" ;) I used to watch the cartoon everyday after school with a bunch of friends and saw the movie opening weekend. Personally, I'm ok with other voices used for Prime and Megatron; although, the original voices would be a plus. Either way, I'm greatly looking forward to seeing this. I was talking to my mother and told her that a live action Transformer movie was coming, and she said, "Good! Now you can get all those boxes of Transformer toys out of our storage." :monkey5

Yeah, I've seen some go for insane prices. I started getting them when they first came out, and the last one I bought was Trypticon. They are in somewhat "played" with condition; but, even when I was a kid, I mostly displayed them around my bedroom. They've been in storage about 17 years now. I'll probably just end up giving them to my kids if I ever get them out of my parents storage.

Back to the movie, I heard that Bumblebee was going to be a camaro now b/c VW didn't want their "beetle" being used in the movie. I'm cool with any changes that are made. The cartoon in the 80's was great, but very corny and slow compared to today's stuff. I'm sure no matter what they do, it'll be a great popcorn flick.

Grimlock owned.

Soundwave and Ravage were my favorites though.

Best cartoon and toys ever made.
