Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

I have been thinking of doing some 100% screen acurate runs of 1/6 scale patterned fabric for Kaylee's and Wash's shirts. Would anyone else be interested?

Just my two cents but since everyone (or many) have gotten clothes for those two, why not try some of River's fabrics and be a jump ahead along with Kaylee and Wash?

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

I think the blue floral print you see her in the most in the Firefly/Serenity Companion. That's the look I'm going for. You might look into a real good gown idea for Inara.

As I don't have any clothes for anyone other than Mal, I'd be in.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Which River would be the best look for everyone?

I can start checking into it.....

Personally, the look that I most associate with River is her pink patterned skirt that she wore in "Objects in Space" with the white cotton thing over it.

I like that too but the crocheted thing would be a real issue.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

I definitely think looking into a dress for Inara would be a good idea. I love the dress I have, but was going for more of a sleek look, not so much a flowy gown look.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Here's the dilly-o, I have found Wash's shirt, not the one he wore but same make, brand, pattern, etc. When I get the shirt, my plan is to scan it, clean up the pattern, resize to 1/6 scale and get a yard or 2 of fabric printed. The price for a 8-10 inch square(more then enough for 1 shirt) would probably be around $5 plus mailing. Kaylee's shirt and River's dress will take a little more work as high res images of them don't appear to exist making 100% accuracy really hard. I’ll do my best and post the designs here for y’all’s approval.

Update: I found a high res image of River's dress. The down side is she's wearing it. Trying to recreate the design from something that is wrinkling and conforming to a person's body is hard but I manage to pull off something that is about 80-85% percent exact. Now I have to resize to proper scale and pick out the right fabric but tell me what you think.

Wow, thats amazing! If you decide to sell these once you finish the project im definatly in for one!!!

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Thanks, these will help. So fabric selection, I am open to suggestions. Kaylee's shirt is most likely going to be a knit but what about Wash's shirt and River's dress? I'm leaning towards a cotton sateen for Wash's shirt for the faint luster but River's dress is stumping me. A cotton voile has a nice drape but might be too transparent but finding something that looks good at this scale and is nice and flowy is hard.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Andy, my best friend in the world made me Wash's shirt. The brown one he wore in Serenity - first episode of Firefly. It looks spot on to me. He got the most perfect matching fabric. I'll see if he remembers where from.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

koipond, I would love to get whatever you come up with. I'm no good with fabrics, but isn't River's dress supposed to be like a light summery dress? something thin and wrinkly, I would think, no?

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

The shirt I was thinking of for Wash was his 'Hawaiian' shirt which actuallly a Hawaiian style shirt with a distinctly Japanese pattern of the famous Five Story Pagoda in Asakusa.

While there are some minor color differances between the two shirts, I will correct those in post.

If you make one of those.... I'M IN!

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

I won't be making the shirt but just printing the fabric. You guys can then sew for whichever body you want to use or send your piece(s) to the tailors you love the most.
