Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Does anyone know where I can get the pants and suspenders for Mal? Chad has run out of them so I'm trying to figure out where else I could get them. I'm so close to having a complete Mal figure, just need these two final items. Thank you.:duff

I posted a complete recipe for my Mal a few pages back. The pants I used came from battlegeartoys.com, Item # CW-TR-21-10, Lt. Butternut. I glued the stripe down the side with Fabric-Tac. The stripe is a brown ribbon I picked on sale at Michael's. If you'd like, I will mail you some to use. I had to buy a whole roll and only needed a need a little over a foot. I used a pair of German WWII suspenders, but you might try Battle Gear Toys Item #CW-BR-70-03. I don't recall the name of the German figure the suspenders came from, but I found they were closer to scale then the ones from BGT. If you'd like to find the German ones look back through this thread and you'll find that recipe I posted.

Thank you very much. That was very helpful.:duff

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Anyone got any updates?

I am waiting on some tiny zippers for my Zoe bash and Kaylee and possibly Wash. I ordered a tactical vest for Wash. My Jayne is waiting on Stevos stuff and a repaint.

for Zoe I am going for the movie look again. I am thinking the final battle outfit with the vest and jacket or the bar scene where she is wearing the vest and red shirt.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

I just finished my suspenders for Mal and have to work on a rig today and then get back to work on his pistol.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Nice! thats awesome that your making your own gun and holster! I am stoked to see it.

Hey, check back through this thread. He can make anything. Check out the engine room he made for his Kaylee. There is literally nothing he can't do, and do well.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Thanks very much Grandpa thats very kind but I have a long way to go yet.
Ok this is my first model for Mal's gun. I see now that its too large and have to scale it back some, probably and 1/8 of an inch or so and reduce the bulk.

theres lots of detail that needs to be added but this is a rough draft so I'm not wasting the time on it.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

fantastic work on that Mal pistol, Anzik!

I'm hoping to return to Wash and Inara in September. I've had a very busy month, but I'm still anxious to get more of the Firefly characters done. You guys always keep my motivated with your awesome photos of your customs!

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Awesome news Trev! And thanks for the compliment. I'll start working on a smaller one tomorrow and if it comes out well I'll cast it.

I'll gladly wait. My mother always said,"If it's worth having, it's worth waiting for". I'm still working on Inara's bash anyway. Should have all the bashes finished by the end of the year. River is the hardest. Can't find a body I really like. Anyone have any ideas?

PS: Mals pistol is coming along great Anzig. Keep me in mind when you star casting them.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

I've just started my Wash. I'm going for this look...

Hey carbo, ran across those suspenders I was referring to. They are from DID WWII German Peter Greim. Found a pair on eBay, but you have to buy his pants and coat also. They want $9.29 and the item is in the UK. eBay item # is 370189799334.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

So I am way late to the party but a my best friend is getting married in year or so and I am going to be his best man. He is not into the whole collectible scene but loves Firefly and would get a kick out of this as an extra present (obviously not a present for him and wife but I thought this would make an great side best man present).

So with that said, is there a good bash put together for a Mal?

EDIT: Clearly I should take my own advice to read

Also from this post

So I finally got around to ordering my first Firefly sculpt from Trevor. Got Mal today and I must say it's amazing. Best sculpt I own. Period. I also ordered the Coat and shirt from Chad and the belt/holster from Stevetoys.

Does anyone know where I can get the boots? I looked at toyschestandcollectibles but couldn't find the right ones. Thanks.

Does Chad still have the coat and shirt available?

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Hey Sexy, this is not going to be a cheap figure. It will cost about $300.00 to put together, and I'm not sure you'll be able to find all the parts at this late date. According to Chad's web site, he's no longer making the Mal clothes, and he's sold out. A.J.Clolthiers is no longer making Mal clothes. I think your only chance is to have someone custom make you a set of clothes. Also you'll have to check with Trever and see if he still has the Mal head sculpt available. Good Luck.

Booooo, oh well. It was a good thought. I will figure something else out.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

You could make a Mal sans duster easily enough! Assuming you can get a head from Trevor. Wolverine shirt, Stevo rig, Newline Jap officer boots, any number of pants (I used German Indy), and a pair of suspenders. The new TT advanced even has sculpted forearms so you can roll up his sleeves :exactly:

That sounds more promising. So the real problem is getting the head then.

Thank you, sir. I'm working on another lead currently to get the pants and the suspenders. If that doesn't work I'll go your route. :duff
