TRIAD LEGENDS: JUBEI YAGYU MITSUYOSHI 12 INCH FIGURE

Very little is known about the life of infamous swordsman Jubei Yagyu Mitsuyoshi. His father, Yagyu Munenori, fought alongside Ieyasu Tokugawa at the Battle of Sekigahara and was made the official trainer to the Shogun. His father pushed hard for Jubei to follow in his same footsteps to become a master swordsman and a royal prefect, but Jubei showed very little interest in holding a government position. During a training bout with his father, Jubei is blinded in one eye and dishonored for his lack of sword skills and his rebellious nature. Jubei spent the next twelve years wandering the countryside and learning everything he could by challenging and defeating foes to better his mastery of the sword. Jubei resurfaces at the age of 36 during a Shogun sword competition and defeats every opponent to become the new royal trainer to the Shogun. Jubei’s adventurous years spent wandering the country has led to numerous novels and stories. The feats he accomplished for honor and mastery of the sword have become. . . legendary.

Triad follows up with the success of the Legends line with samurai legend Jubei Yagyu. The Legends series is Triad’s unique take on mythical and legendary heroes. This product line is one of our longest running passion projects that we want to see produced. Every character is envisioned with the same style and quality you’ve come to love about Triad Toys. No detail is left out of this figure – his clothes are meticulously designed with multiple layers and choice fabrics; his headsculpt is wildly imaginative and hand-painted to perfection; his weapons are full metal and utilizes the ATAC system to convert into a double-ended sword!

Instead of getin' Onimusha2 license they just making another interpretation of the character :lol:slap

I have no idea who that is supposed to be, but he looks pretty freakin' awesome. A big step up from most of the Triad stuff I've seen floating around. He would make a great generic samurai villain if I had any use for such a thing :lol Maybe he can join my Cobra display.

I'm really liking the look of this guy. I'm still praying they deliver on the Lonewolf and Cub set... still kick myself for not picking up the Alfrex set when I saw it!

I don't know, I'm pretty let down. I've wanted a Jubei figure for the longest time, but this figure, like someone said, looks like a custom and not up to standard when comparing to Hot Toys, Enterbay, or even some new companies. Probably gonna pass and wait on a better company to produce Jubei.

Jubei Mitsuyoshi Yagyu was a real samurai and a popular folklore hero in Japanese history. In a time when the Tokugawa Shogunate kept records on EVERYONE, Jubei disappears from history for several years (I believe it was a little over a decade) and it was rumored he either became a Shogun spy, weeding out possible enemies and taking care of them or went on a warrior's pilgrimage. Regardless, it was his historical "disappearance" that is often romanticized. Much like we have Davy Crockett and his tall tales, Japan has Jubei Yagyu.

This is NOT the Onimusha Jubei Yagyu either. Onimusha 2's Jubei Yagyu is actually Munetoshi (aka Muneyoshi) Yagyu, Jubei Mitsuyoshi Yagyu's grandfather. Onimusha's storyline depicts the "Jubei" given name as a "honorable name" passed along the Yagyu line. Historically, MITSUYOSHI Yagyu is the only one who was ever known as Jubei.

This Jubei is actually a good representation of the most well-known depiction of the character by Japanese actor Sonny Chiba. Who starred as Jubei in several films and TV series. They matched the ponytail, tsuba eyepatch and double swords down pretty well!

Speaking of which, someone should do a Sonny Chiba Jubei Yagyu!

Have you ever seen the anime Ninja Scroll? It's pretty good. As for this figure it's a buy. I love everything about it. If only they could make a Manji from Blade of the Immortal...

You beat me to posting it, thank you for saving me all of that typing.

I first saw Samurai Reincarnation in an amended form with an English dub... that was probably the WORST English dub I've ever heard. I have since bought a better version and watch it in the original Japanese with subtitles on.
I agree, we NEED a Chiba Jubei figure.
(Gave a very good explanation of who Jubei was.. I apologize for editing it, but was trying to trim my post down a bit)

how's a Triad toy compare in scale to a Hot Toys? I might just pick this figure up and transfer all the clothes to a Hot Toys trutype and get a better head if the scale will match.

Is this another one of those figures just for show ? if so this should be in the custom section XD

Looks, good, might get.
