Rumor is that they canned this because of Tomorrowland's box office.

You got it. Tomorrowland killed Tron 3. Hell, from here on out for Disney, if ain't Marvel or Star Wars, it ain't getting made. Pixar's Inside Out needs to be a massive hit or Pixar is going to take a hit as well. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if Disney's own animation division is put in mothballs as well. Unless they can turn out another Frozen (or something with superheros like Big Hero Six), they ain't going to be putting out any films soon.
