I KNOW this is blasphemy, but I didn't see the original TRON until a few days ago. My verdict, after years of people hyping it up? (Not that anyone cares) It was understandably groundbreaking, beautifully made and just plain pretty to look at... but boring as hell.
The ideas and concepts are fascinating, and I love Bridges in everthing, but it seemed like the filmmakers were too busy with the effects to tell a compelling story. I understand its place in history and it's still pretty to look at... Like watching someone else play a video game (the idea) and just as tedious.
Why is it even called "TRON" after a supporting character, when Flynn was clearly the focus?

I believe it's because Tron is the program designed to fight on behalf of the other programs in the first movie.
I had an interesting conversation with a coworker today. He asked me if I caught the hidden references. I laughed at first when he told me but after watching it again tonight it crossed my mind. I suppose a lot of things can be seen differently if you look for it. Just curious if anyone else read more into it.
It will be my first time ever seeing a 3D film!
yeah that would've rocked, but I feel they wanted to set it up for another sequel.
