So far i'm disappointed. I knew it wasn't going to be as good as the first season but i still expected it to be better than it is.

Colin Farrell's character was by far the best part of this new season and they just killed him at the end of the second episode. that's so dumb. I hope there's flashbacks.

****ing ****. That...that was insane. Jesus.

I think in some ways, season 1 constructed a sort of safety net with Cohle; that idea that "oh, yeah, he wants to die; doesn't mean he'll get his wish. I, too, saw some foreshadowing, with the whole "nothing more dangerous than a man with nothing to lose" routine, but, ****, it's episode two, you know? I can't see anyone getting up from that, and, honestly, I wouldn't expect them to. I think the last time I was really caught off guard like that was The Wire. Come to think of it, The Wire had a lot of moments like that.:lol

He's not getting up...

Notice the gunman had a crow mask and the second blast was to the groin

Woodrugh is definitely gay or bi.

No way Ray is dead. He either has a vest on, or got hit with buckshot or something like Beatrix in Kill Bill. Remember, the medical examiner or w/e talking about Caspere mentions he had a broken pelvis in addition to the blast wound. So it's possible they disable their victims and Ray will wake up, upside down about to be tortured and escape.

I'm enjoying this season every bit as much as the first which let's remember, didn't find it's stride and start getting a **** ton of praise until that long shot in episode four. Two into this season and we've got a great start, insight into the villain? and a very unexpected hit.

My take is this: While the first season was "creepy" with the occult undertones and mystical cues, this one feels a bit more unsettling. Mainly because it is a it more "realistic" so it hits home a bit harder. That final scene gave me some Shinning flashbacks with the animal masks and all. It's not "scary" in the general sense but it does have some "What the--?" moments, whereas the first one had "Oh, damn---" moments. It's a fine distinction but I'm still enjoying it, even though it's a departure.

Yea, so many Shining throwbacks. Those aerial tracking shots with the ominous music = instant Overlook Hotel flashbacks.

I like that you think they're being more transparent in showing you what this bad guy Vince Vaughn is up to, but in reality it becomes more and more unsettling as your realize you have no idea what he's gotten involved in.

I know they have said there will not be any occult material in this season, but I'm not sure I buy it. The gunmans mask looked creepy, and seemed like an odd choice if he's merely trying to hide his identity. I'm very curious about Kitsch's past and his history with Black Mountain Security, almost feel like he has the most to hide. BMS seemed a very obvious nod to Blackwater.

I actually don't mind Vaughn in this, I think he is doing fine. I think many people just find it difficult to adjust their perception of him, as we are so used to seeing him in fare like Old School and Wedding Crashers.

You noticed that the crow mask is prolly the same one that is missing from the rest of the collection right? I was wondering if the killer was going to be male or female, we defn got our answer at the end. All I know is that sucka better not be dead, how could they do that in episode 2 when we are just getting to know him? And yea, that dude is defn gay. He's got some crazy issues.

I don't see how anyone survives that.

My guess on the villain, possibly the judges crazy son he referenced?

If I had to take a shot in the dark as to what's going on, I'd say there's already some sort of group in place similar to the one Vaughn is trying to get up and running. Probably involving the Mayor, his son(the crow?), Ani's Dad at that Spiritual Camp(the Mayor refers to some weird spiritual stuff regarding his son not being ready or w/e), that wellness center Doctor, and Osip. I think they're way of preventing Vaughn's involvement was to bleed his money through fake deals with Caspere but I have no idea what it's all about. I've heard some suggest human trafficking along the rail systems and highways.

He is definitely dead. I don't know how anyone could think he's not.

Because there's already footage in the trailers from a few months back that indicate he is in future scenes.
:lol It could be subterfuge though.

I think the only way we see him in future scenes is in flashbacks but i could be wrong.

There was no indication Ray was shot with anything lethal, and every indication it was a set up of some kind with Ray involved. (not getting too drunk, holstering his weapon, fresh and not hardened blood, Ray's non-chalant reaction to knowing whatever was about to happen was being recorded, noticing the crow mask was missing off the wall where the others were, etc.)

Well I'm glad he's still in the show but that makes that ending seem like a cheap fake out.

True, all good points which I missed

There was loads of set pics of him last year in a vest shooting a raid with Kitsch and McAdams. I dunno how they'll explain that double tap with a ****ing shotgun away.

Like this.

Again, remember, Caspere was also shot with a shotgun but then hung upside down, tortured and finally killed.

good points, even though it doesn't quite make sense yet. Now that I remember, the video was recording and he left the door open. I was gonna say, if they're gonna kill someone off, kill Jon Carter cause he already seems pretty useless.
