A friend of mine saw a pre-screening last night and she said it was very much like the book. Some cool supernatural ^^^^ surrounded by a love story.

I still have pretty low expectations.

Did anyone watch South Park last night? :lol The goth kids at the school were getting pissed at the Twilight-fan preppy kids for dressing like vampires and stealing their look. Hysterical.

All the reviews pretty much say that they followed the book very closely and that the special effects really bring the film down.

Yep, we we're talking about it on the previous page...

A little OT, but I think it's fitting...
did anyone see last night's South Park episodes?
Ungroundable-Vampires vs. Goths

Just got back from it and I'll admit I didn't hate it. Some of the dialogue was really cheesy and the relationship seem really quickly progressed (which my wife swears in the book is better handled) not to mention a few times the special effects looked to be done 10 years ago but I will say that I liked the twist on the vampire genre in terms of the origins and reasonings behind things. I liked the character of Edward and the rest of the Cullens, Bella seemed uninteresting and a bit too plain (which again my wife swears was spot on) and while I'd never pay to see it again in the theaters and won't read the books, its one of those films I'd check out the sequel or not change the channel if it were on TV.

BTW, the theater I went to see it in full of teens and young woman under 30 in various gerths. Screaming everytime Edward appeared on screen or during any romantic interludes. That got annoying really ^^^^ing quick.

Glad I stayed home, even if my Suns lost. Was great having peace and quiet. priceless.

Did she tell you this before you dropped her off at school?:monkey5:monkey5:monkey5

Her daughter's boyfriend works at a theater and part of his job is pre-screening movies. He got her in for it. But her daughter (19) is smoking ^^^^ing hot.

So my review.

I LOVED IT

It was very true to the book which was nice. It had everything that I liked from the book and left out what I hated most about the book. The whole swooning teenage girl thing was really left out which was what I was most fearful of being in the movie because it would've seemed very cheesy. It had a real good flow and seemed to move really fast. It was actually a lot funnier than I expected. Of course a lot of the humor is seeing the reactions of characters on screen when I've already read about them. I don't know how I would've felt about the movie if I hadn't read the first couple books first. I know I wouldn't have liked it nearly as much.

We got there about 45 minutes before the show and there was a pretty long line. Theater was pretty packed. At least a 50:1 girl to guy ratio. Most of them in the teens. I was like a kid in a candy store :naughty

Go ahead fellas, tear the mickey outta me.

The estimates for Friday have been released. According to Box Office Mojo, Twilight has already made $35.7 million.

It will probably make 65-70 million for the weekend since that includes Thursday night showings. None of the showings at my local multiplex are sold out for today, which surprises me.

Most reports have indicated that the midnight showings only accounted for $7 million of the Friday take. Even with a significant drop, I would expect the film to make at least $21-22 million on Saturday, and another $18-20 million on Sunday, which would put it at around $75 million for the weekend. But who knows what will actually happen? The $35 million number far exceeded most insider predictions.
