I wish this is what the final product looked like. I like the idea of a blind eye.

To be fair, we still haven't seen the other side of the skull yet. ;)

I don't think they'll go with the blind eye, but there's definitely a lot of heavy scarring going on here. I like all of the intense calcification on the skull and body that make the T.rex look almost armored. Can't wait to see more. :rock

Would a T-rex with a blind eye have much chance for survival? Who knows...
I agree with Agent, the maquettes in similar scale would be cool, but I doubt it's realistic; solo piece vs. duo and all that...

I don't mean all the dinosauria pieces in scale, I'd like the maquettes to be in scale with the maquettes and the vs. in scale with the vs. I doubt they can keep them in exact scale just because some dinos may be extremely large or small so playing with the size is a bit necessary. Just comprable in size. I have the Star Wars Duel of the Fates vs. dio and the Yoda vs. Dooku dio and it bugs me that Qui-Gon is noticeably bigger than Dooku.

I guess the vs. pieces may need the scale adjusted if the environment is more elaborate.

Though it would of been nice to see a new Dinosaur, I am still excited about this one. I think it was a good call to go with the closed mouth, placid look. The open mouth ready to attack has been done a million times already. Besides we got that with the diorama.

Hhmmm... close to a similar scale with similarly-sized animals, perhaps. I wouldn't be surprised if the T.rex and Carnotaurus were of comparable scale, since Carnotaurus could typically reach 20-30 feet and T.rex seems to have averaged 35-45 (though there's a recent find that has more info being gathered and based on femur measurements will be far and away the largest theropod :D). There I can see a scale comparison. With a Deinonychus maquette, not so much. I'll be happy as long as the detail is true and I can feel that the animal has personality. I like to be able to get a sense of the life an animal has led by simply looking at it, and with mature carnivores in particular that shouldn't ever be a problem.

Yep, this is why we had the trike skull with the VS. dio, as predicted. Can't wait to see the skull. I'm curious whether they're going to make it an average T.rex skull or if they are going to produce one with a lot of ossification and damage as in this "elder statesman" piece. :D

I hope they do the latter - it would really tie it to the piece and enhance its exclusivity.

I don't really like the look of it from the preview. I just don't like the fact that it looks like an old T-Rex, that's not the image I get when I think of them. It does look interesting though.

Honestly I'll probably be canceling the T-Rex Dio and Carnotaurus Maquette though, so with those gone I might not even start this line at all. The direction I'm trying to take my collection in, (what little direction it has :lol), these just wouldn't really fit at all, and of course space is the major factor.

I wonder what the price will be like on this?

Probably around $200-250. That's the price point of the others. The Carnotaurus is listed on Sideshow between 179.99-189.99. Hopefully they can keep him under $200.

I hear you there, this Dinosauria line is derailing my collecting direction. But then that's happened so many times I used to it by now. I just have to hope none of the different directions converge before I get my own place. Otherwise some tought decisions are going to be made...

I've got my budget for this one set. Being a paleo-freak far longer than any other line out there and having collected and built different dino kits over the years, this is a welcome contrast from all the vanilla t-rexes out there. I'll prolly have to put some of my older t-rex models somewhere else when this one's released.
