I just received mine at work. I don't have a camera, but it's a beauty. After thoroughly inspecting the piece, there are only a few mishaps on the teeth in reference to the application of paint. But it is extremely minor. Otherwise, the paint job is spectacular. The details in the skin, from the warts, to the wrinkles and the scarring met my expectations, however, I must say that I was more impressed with the Carno sculpt upon first viewing. That may change once I get home and display them together. Overall, however, this is another fine job from sideshow and an excellent addition to the Dinosauria line. You guys will be pleased!

Okay, so there is a minor paint blemish on my t-rex's toe (I mentioned before), and I'm thinking that since it's small and I'm happy with every other aspect of the piece, I think I'd rather try and do a retouch than deal with the hassle of an exchange (and risk getting a replacement that's not as good in some way).

So my question is: what type of paint would I pick up to dab on a scuff? Acrylic? Oil? Any suggestions?

Just a laymen speaking here Scar my ol' boy; but the T-rex maquette really doesn't pair that well with the the dio (I have both), they really look like different renderings to me. :dunno

It is also important to remember that different artists were used in each Dinosauria piece. David Krentz, for example, did not work on the diorama piece. Personally, I like the fact that a single company has managed to produce two reconstructions of this animal, each unique in their own way.

Very much so, I like some variety and personal/artistic freedoms; I was just noting that paired side by side they do show some real variations.

I can take requests, though like I said with my previous pics: my camera isn't great, so don't expect miracles. ;)

Are there angles/distances would you want to see in particular?

CHEERS! :)

um preferably without the flash so can see the detail/paintwork natural? maybe from side angel with head to left side & couple of closeups of head? i dont mind tho to be honest, any would be great !

thanks again!

hey man...do u think u can show me a size comparision with a 12 inch figure please?

Okay, here we go... two posts, 20 pics total. All but one are sans flash... note though that either the light in my house or the camera skews the color in a different direction without a flash. In life, the rex doesn't seem so greenish. So for a real life color, take the pic I took with a flash and just dial down the intensity... the rex gives an impression of being more earthy than mossy.

Well, my exclusive arrived today in the mail, 53/150. :rock I have off work on Thursday, so hopefully when I'm done running errands I should be able to have a thorough review up by that evening.

I should also say, I agree with LOTRFan that this is really a stand alone piece of paleoart, as are all current Dinosauria pieces, which are reflective of the tastes and ideals of the individual artists who have worked on each maquette or diorama. This T.rex is drastically different from the T.rex in the dio, for example... but I'll get to all of that much more thoroughly in my review. :D

We'll look forward to it. I guess Thursday will be Dinosauria day for me because I'll be getting mine that day too.

Nice shots! It never ceases to amaze me how different these pieces seem under a variety of lighting conditions. Also, your pictures give a great look at the eyes, which seem more lifelike than those of any previous statue. That definitely gives him an eerie realism.

We should get a backstage pass for this one. On the order page it says that there is one but when you watch, Scott talks about the Dioramas and the Carnotaurus, but no Rex....
