Machida,Shogun,Rashad and Rampage.Looking forward to this game,played it for 3 hours straight yesterday.

thanks for posting info on how to get the demo. Had no idea it wasn't being public released yet.

~~~Just destroyed Rua with Rampage. Never stood a chance.
Played the demo last night...just as I thought its the same button mashing mess as the last one. I mean I put the difficulty up and methodically destroyed Quinton and Rashad and Machida with Shogun...I can still tell its just a button masher though. It felt very unresponsive to me.
The engine still plays like a regular "capcom" style fighting game. What happened to the old MMA games that Japan used to crank out. They need to mirror those engines and then make a game.
Maybe against the computer, but if you try to "button mash" against a skilled opponent, I guarantee the outcome would be different.
Unless you're just that damn good since I've NEVER heard of anyone putting it on the highest difficulty and button mashing to success every time.
And by Japanese MMA games you must be talking about PRIDE FC for PS2. If so, that game was so easy, it makes Heavy Rain look difficult.
To each his own...
no I wasnt talking about Pride...that was set up with the same engine made by the same people, the PRIDE game wasnt any better. Im talking about games like Rings Fighting Network, and the always famous Fire Pro, even Tobal 2. They all had very intricate, super detailed fighting engines with very difficult moves.
These new MMA games are just made to satisfy the need for an actual MMA game for the new consoles and something familiar to UFC fans. Lets hope the StrikeForce game uses a different engine.
As for playing people, beleive me Ive destroyed people who button mash, but Im just saying the way the game plays theres no smooth transition from striking to going into a take down. its very blocky in its animation.
I agree that the transition from striking to clinch/takedown is slow but it is slightly better than the first game.This is the only MMA game we got and i love it even if i know things can be improved.
One big complaint though,you can get out of every third transition attempt if you`re on the defense on the ground or in a clinch,seems like they didn`t want to let people keep their opponent on the ground forever,and that it sucks for online play.
I can block someone`s takedowns from a clinch by holding the right analog stick backwards,but every third attempt they always get me down,goes for everything,transition on ground,clinch etc...That is kinda annoying,on expert difficulty i can`t hold them down for long before they kick me off.
Yes it is annoying that your opponent on his back blocks you from doing any transition online,but at least the ref is standing you up if nothing happens this time,so the third transition attempt that always goes your way is bull____.
You dont make any sense. You previously say that this game is a button masher, but then you go on to say that you destroy people who button mash? Doesn't that mean that this game IS NOT meant to be played as a button masher? :cuckoo:
You obviously have not played any one very good if you think you can button mash and win. Any decent person online would pick you apart and KYTFO.
I have yet to play this game, but if im understanding you correctly....you can't just hold the right analog stick back and keep someone in a position anymore. IMO that is a GREAT feature because too many people would pull a dominant ground position and just hold the analog stick there forever waiting for you to tire yourself out most of the time. makes the person in the dominant position have to 'work' to keep it instead of holding the stupid analog stick back the whole time while picking you apart with the occasional punch.
I dont make any sense...me beating someone who button mashes has nothing to do with the fact that this game is meant to played either way. You can play it strategically or just randomly mash buttons and that shouldnt be allowed. You must not have played many MMA games, because again what Im saying is sure you can try and pick your opponent apart with basic punches or kicks, but none of them are smooth then to try and go into a take down the animation is really choppy and not fluid. You can play this as methodically as you can for a UFC game, but the way the engine is built you can just immediatly start mashing buttons and keep moving foward. They should have made it so you had to string combos together. Beleive me Im not going to argue about this game, its good for what it is, but I can see there easily on the "Madden" track with every year coming out with a new game and very little has changed besides there roster.
When you play Tobal 2 you come tell me differently. That game would make UFC look like a kids game as far as game mechanics. The grappling system in that game was so sick thats what all these companies should be using as a template.
it doesn't matter if you button mash. anybody with a good defense will just counter the strikes with a takedown (i did it all the time in Undisputed 2009 in ranked matches) and then work the ground game to dominate your opponent.
i'd have to say i disagree with either 2009 or 2010 (based on the demo) being a button masher.
Again if youve havent played any other MMA games then you have nothing to compare and wont understand what Im talking about. Its cool, no big deal.
Bagelsncheesey said it himself though (get the takedown and work the ground game to dominate your opponent) if thats all it takes to dominate an opponent again the game isnt that complex...thats my complaint. Again no big deal, I just had higher hopes for this game.
well i wouldn't say it isn't complex... i have just poured several months of my life into undisputed 2009, so i'm decent at the ground game :lol
either way... i'm ready and stoked for 2010.
Yeah its cool man im not knocking anyone for liking it, again its good for what it is. I played 2009 til no end man, except I made a fighter and put him thru the training to beat up on all the big names.
haha i did the same... i usually pick my fighter to play against real names, more fun that way.
