Hendo and Rich are becoming guys who just put on good fights, not really going after the belt. If Hendo really wanted a belt he would have asked for a fight in MW. Maybe he did though IDK. They are really trying to get Rich Franklin into Headline status.

Henderson Franklin 2 is a great idea due to the split decision in their first fight. Both guys put on great shows. Henderson will come in confident and agressive after the KTFO of Bisping and Franklin is looking to redeem his loss in thier first meeting. Should make for an excellent fight.

Though I am a fan of both fighters and would hate to see either lose.

Bad news for Affliction fans: Reports are coming out that Josh Barnett has tested positive (pre-fight test) and will not be fighting Fedor on August 1st. The official announcement will come tomorrow. It's not clear right now exactly what the deal is i.e. what Barnett tested positive FOR!? He failed the post-fight test after he fought and beat Randy Couture in the UFC. So if he did indeed fail this test, he'd be one of the only people in combat sports to ever fail two tests. Which is sad. So we'll have to wait until tomorrow to see.

Affliction's got problems. :lol

Affliction Entertainment and M-1 Global are looking for a new opponent to face Fedor Emelianenko at Affliction “Trilogy” on Aug. 1 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

Multiple sources have told Sherdog.com that the California State Athletic Commission will not license Josh Barnett after a positive test result. Calls to Affliction Entertainment were not immediately returned. The CSAC said a comprehensive statement would be issued Wednesday.

hmm so does this mean Fedor isnt gonna be a "free agent" so to speak after the first.

That sucks!!!! That was one I was really looking foward to. I'm sure they will find a replacement. There's tons of fighters that would take that oppurtunity, without training. Vitor has stepped up. I'll be cheering for him for sure, if it happens.

It's official: Barnett tested positive and is out of the fight. Afflicition is trying to find a replacement. :lol

Damn. Sucks to be them right about now. :lol I just saw the PPV commercial last night...guess they might wanna pull that one down. :lol

Well like kobayashi93 said Tom Attencio and Afflicition are trying to find a last minute replacement but it's gonna be a hard sell on short notice. Attencio has already stated that this show would determine Afflicitions future in the fight business. It's no secret they've lost considerable money since Afflicition began promoting shows. They've yet to make a profit and their PPV sales have been terrible. So according to Attencio, if this show didn't outperform the first two considerably, the chances of Affliction putting on a fourth show were very low; and then this happens.

Now it's lose/lose all around. Whoever Fedor fights will mean very little as far as a win for him because it'll be on short notice. And if he loses: let the S'Storm begin. :lol

If Vitor fights and WINS.. that's bad for Afflicition because Fedor is their one trick pony and Vitor only has one fight left on his contract. If he loses.. that could possibly hurt his chances of the UFC wanting him.

If Affliction gets a one-shot HW and they beat Fedor, Affliction is screwed unless they can sign that HW to a contract because I'm sure the UFC will want to immediately sign them as well. And if Fedor refuses to fight Affliction is screwed. Because that was the main draw.

Terrible.

I hope Rogers steps up to take this. I think he'd have the best chance. Belfort sounds interesting too but he's been out of the game for so long.

Who are you guys picking for Penn-Kenflo , Griff-Silva?

On such short notice I dont see anyone beating Fedor.

True. Probably by a punchers chance, but odds are way stacked against that. But if anyone has the balls to take this fight, it will be a career maker for sure if they can pull it off.

Rogers turned down a title shot with Alistair Overeem. So I doubt he's willing to fight Fedor with less than 2 weeks to train. Lashley has already said he'd have to think hard about it as well since he hasn't been in training. Vitor is coming off a KO win over Matt Lindland Nash, they fought on the last Affliction card. He's on a 4 fight win streak and he has a fight on the Trilogy card which is why he's at the top of the replacement list: He's actually trained and prepared for a fight on August 1. Granted it was a MW fight.. but Vitor HAS beaten bigger fighters and Fedor is a small HW.

Penn vs. KenFlo - Honestly.. Kenny has a shot. But I think Penn will win.

Griffin vs. A.Silva - I think Anderson wins. And I think it'll be a stoppage. Not a decision.

I agree with Devil about it being a lose lose situation.

Vitor is the best option imo. He has been on a roll recently, and he's using his stand up game again. So a fast knock out is a possibility. Plus he will actually be in shape since he's on the card anyways. Two big problem occur though. Adjusting his strategy for Fedor, and the weight difference. But any late replacement will be faced with the strategy adjustment.

They could also put Yvel or Buentello in against Fedor. Both are coming off solid performances. At least they wouldn't give up the size that Vitor would.

Edit* damn Devil beat me to it.

oh yeah totally forgot about Belfort's fight. shows you how much i keep up with affliction lol.

Did Rogers turn down Overeem really? I thought i read somewhere that they were just not giving him the title shot.

I also think Silva will win via stoppage, but im hoping Griff can pull off the win and shock the world. Im kind of tired of Silva having the belt.

As for Penn Kenflo, Penn looks to be in great shape, more so than the Gsp fight. I think Penn will get the KO.

Me too but this fight isnt for his belt. :(

A positive drug test sample by Josh Barnett has left the Affliction promotion scrambling for a replacement to face Fedor Emelianenko in the main event of the company’s Aug. 1 fight card from the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

Barnett and Affliction promoter Tom Atencio confirmed both the positive result to the California State Athletic Commission-administered test and that Barnett is off the card. The fighter’s test came back positive for the metabolite 2a-methyl-5a-androstan-3a-ol-17-one, which is contained in the anabolic steroid Clostebol. Clostebol is an anabolic agent that is a weak derivative of testosterone.

Barnett said he wanted to keep quiet as he prepares an appeal, and had nothing negative to say about the testing procedure.

It’s not a big conspiracy,” said Barnett, who had a previous positive banned substance test result on his record.

Barnett is a dumbass. Two failed tests, two excuses and two claims of a conspiracy. smh.

I believe he turned it down because of the time frame. He just fought Arlovski on June 6 and the title shot would've been Aug. 15. He did win fast (22 second KO) but from what I've read that's why Rogers turned down the fight which is why Werdum got the chance. Because remember: Werdum's last fight was that TKO loss to Junior Dos Santos in the UFC. He hasn't fought since then and that was back in October of 2008. He's never even fought for Strikeforce either. That's why it was weird that his first fight would be a title shot since he's never had a fight in that promotion. I don't think Rogers turned down the fight cuz he was ducking or anything like that.. I think it's just because going into the Arlovski fight Rogers had zero plans to fight on the next card a month and a half later. Strikeforce kinda threw that card together because the only fights that were set in stone (on June 6) were Carano vs. Santos and Thompson vs. Melendez. They threw together the Diaz vs. Riggs fight and even made a new WW belt for it. They tacked on the Overeem fight. Kinda EXC style of making cards last minute. I remember some EliteXC cards weren't even finalized until the week of the fights. :duh That's pathetic. :lol

Barnett could have been our savior. instead he turned out to be a fraud.

That's why I don't consider his win vs. Randy legit. Cuz he used Steroids, got suspended and had his title stripped. Again.. unless someone else can throw out a name I don't believe any fighter in Boxing, MMA, or Kick Boxing has ever failed two drug tests for the same thing. Can anyone name someone!?
