wow. that was a great set up. You tihnk he lead Silva to stand up so he could get that or was it just quick thinking?
I dont think the author of that vid was a spider fan :lol

Silva is a totally different fighter now, and his ground game has greatly improved.

I forgot UFC 96 was this week, I'll download it the next day. No way I'm paying for that card.

Penn’s camp has alleged since the incident that the application of the Vaseline was done intentionally as to give St. Pierre an advantage over the Hawaiian, thus negating his guard game on the ground.

St. Pierre’s lead Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor, John Danaher, a Renzo Gracie prodigy, also stepped in to defend his fighter’s position throughout the fight as well as pointing out that Penn has actually “never controlled an opponent from guard position in a way that led to the finish of the match, or even a decisive attack that turned the course of a match in his entire MMA career.”

Danaher goes on to note the claims of Penn’s camp that the UFC lightweight champion was unable to use his “rubber guard” game in the fight due to St. Pierre’s alleged infraction. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coach in the letter talks about the famed guard game developed by Eddie Bravo, and explains that while the “high guard” of B.J. Penn shows extraordinary flexibility and skill, “Mr. Penn is not a user of the rubber guard system.”

Here's the problem: BJ's whole arguement is that he wasn't able to effectively use his BJJ because GSP was slippery. Ok.. :lol name 1 person BJ has ever submitted from HIS guard!? That's right.. he's NEVER submitted anyone from HIS guard. The amount of vaseline that was on GSP is no different than the amount that naturally gets on fighters throughout the course of a normal fight when grappling.
It works both ways: Greasing would also prevent GSP from keeping position.

FYI: Dana has also stated he believes GSP won fair and square and that this incident had nothing to do with the outcome.

Diego Sanchez will have his next 155 fight against Clay Guida at the TUF Finale June 20th.

I'm a Diego hater, but this should be a good fight.

How can you not like Clay "The carpenter blanket" Guida!? C'mon! He's the lay and pray MASTA.

I actually think he'll ride out Diego to yet another boring, decision.

OR..

If we're lucky we'll get another Huerta/Guida fight, which was SICK!!!

Kinda funny that both the Main Event and Co-Main Event feature fights that at first glance seem like easy one sided fights/guaranteed wins, but in reality they're not. When I first heard the match-ups (and I'm sure I'm not alone) I thought Rampage KO Rd. 1 and Carwin by (T)KO in Rd. 1 at the latest early 2nd round. That was my initial reaction.

But when you think about it, both the opponents are KNOWN for upsets. Gonzaga holds one of the biggest in UFC (imo with Serra over GSP) KO'ing Cro Cop WITH a head kick which is what everyone thought Cro Cop would be using to murder Gonzaga. And Jardine upset Forrest AND Liddell. 2 people that NO ONE thought would lose to Jardine.

So while things kinda look one sided.. I wouldn't be surprised if both Rampage and Carwin lost. I've said before that I haven't been impressed by Carwin's competition thus far. IMO this will be his first real test in the UFC HW division. But Gonzaga is a quitter when the going gets tough. He quit against Werdum twice. Quit against Randy once his nose was broken. He's sick when he's winning.. but once things go south.. his heart exits the building. So I could see him quitting against Carwin if he gets taken down and controlled on the ground.

And as much as common sense tells me that Rampage is going to KO then Rape Choke Jardine.. I could see Jardine leg kicking Quinton for 3 rounds and frustrating him.

Interesting fights.

Now that we`re talking about ufc 96:

I don't see Rampage having a problem with Jardine. I wouldn't even put Jardine in the top 10 of LHW's. He's ranked 8 but he should be lower. But anything can happen in a fight. Jardine got leg kicks and thats all. Rampage should KO him in the 1st.
