I didn't buy it and I didn't even go out to see it, it was basically the ending to TUF Brazil, right?

Yeah basically the finale to TUF Brazil...the Brazilian crowd always makes me laugh, but wasnt one of the better cards thats for sure.
If it wasnt for the fact that I went to get some dinner while I watched the fights, I would have never paid for this card at home.

Some Rich vs Wand was a fight fight, but if you didnt catch it dont lose any sleep over it.

there was like no advertising for this fight at all, completey forgot about it, not that I would've payed for it anyways.

Once they lost Silva vs. Sonnen II it was all down hill. Then the co-main event (which was supposed to headline after Silva vs. Sonnen II was moved) was scrapped when Belfort got hurt. So Rich had to come in.

Wand was robbed even further pissing me off about this whole situation. UFC is just setting up Franklins last hurrah.

Dana said he allowed the Brazilian audience refunds if they wanted since it basically wasnt even the same card by the time the event happened.

Wand lost that fight. He had a 10-8 round 2 IMO, but lost every other round 10-9. So I had it 48-46 Franklin. All 3 judges had it 49-46 (No 10-8 second round). Wand gassed out after the 2nd.

Yup. But I don't think they cared. They seemed to enjoy it. I'm sure the PPV buy rate was terrible though. :lol

Yep I think the same thing as well, they seemed to be loving it. All the typical chanting and going nuts. Its always interesting to see how much MMA is supported in countries who know the sport. The US is still far beyond those days.

Not just that, it's also because those places don't get multiple live UFC events per year like the U.S.

People seem to forget, UFC 134 (2011) was the first event back in Brazil since 1998. And since then the UFC has only done 2 more cards there, which includes last night.

Tito ortiz saying he would beat Jon Jones when he was in his prime on Sportscenter. SMH. Can't wait for Silva to break Sonnen's arms, legs and teeth :rotfl

Thought this was cool though: Hell's Kitchen (cooking competition show with Gordon Ramsey) had two special guests during a dinner service recently. One was Boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard. The other? Tito Ortiz. :lol

Don't understand why he is so popular when he hasn't done anything significant in the sport for years. General fans or newer ones to the sport probably have no clue who he even is. Idk, the way things are going for the sport right now, it seems as if mma may have reached it's popularity/recognition ceiling. I really don't see it going anywhere else new that will really compete with the big 3 in NBA, NFL, and MLB.

The fighters just aren't becoming household names, maybe media is partially to blame? I know Sportscenter barely even talks about the sport. I'm sick of FOX treating the UFC events like it's football, it's a stupid ass idea, probably a stipulation from FOX.

They'll need to move from PPV to ESPN or another media outlet on a more regular basis....I think that's the next step. Boxing is similiar where it's mostly PPV or premium channels and the majority of people know the big names but it's limited. And the majority of kids grew up playing the big 3 but wrestling/boxing are limited so they need the exposure to raise awareness.

I dont think we'll ever be able to compare MMA to the big 3. In my opinion most not all fans of those sports have a different mind set on fighting. I dont think MMA has reached the ceiling yet, but at the same time fighting is just not viewed the same in the US as it is in say Brazil or Japan. Its a sport with a learning curve and most people arent interested in learning the sport. So in the end seeing 2 guys lay on each other for 5 rounds...they'll never become house hold names because in the US thats not what a fight consists of. If your not punching or kicking its not a fight. Just my opinion. Like Ive been saying the US has a long way to go before the sport gets any bigger or is actually respected as a sport. I think at this point in time its looked at like WWE by the majority of people out there who dont know any better.

they have to find a way to keep their fighters healthy and actually fighting as well. This is the only sport where the big names are often being changed out for lesser guys, and we don't see that hardly at all in other sports. We know why it's that way, but general fans lose interest.

I would agree that MMA will never be as popular as the big 3. A lot of kids are doing it these days, but BJJ and MMA are by far the hardest sports to A.) Be good at and B.) To stick with cause it's so injury prone. BJJ is good for kids, but MMA is not a sport I would say people want to bring their kids too either, it's not a family event for most families, so that's also a factor. From people that I know that don't like it, they think it's flat out dirty fighting, or they are turned off by the large amounts of blood splattered all over the mat :lol

I agree Azure, I know most people that I know who know nothing about the sport the second a guy is on the ground getting punched everyone starts asking me why isnt it being stopped. If blood starts flowing...I swear people think there literally getting murdered. Then I have to start explaining everything thats going on.
