ffs. Its gonna be a while till i get these.

I couldn't believe it when I saw them earlier in the week, clearly just cashing in with the £20 price difference between Dutch and Billy

they've been creeping their hot toys prices up for a while now. you can't blame that big a hike on the economy and import fees - it just doesn't add up. i used to get a lot of HT stuff from there. but no more.

To be honest , F.P are taking the p%^$ with their pricing of H.T stuff . I was in one of their stores last week and they wanted £155 for the Dark Knight figures . You can have them shipped from H.K or the states for £30 or £40 less than that .:horror

Exactly, you'd think being such a specialised business that deals in non-essential purchases. After all we don't need this stuff, we want it, but don't need it. They'd like to remain reasonable.

HOLY TOLIDO!?!

eBay all the way for me. will be around £20 - £30 less even with the terrible exchange rate and shipping from HK.

no they haven't yet. I think i will end up importing these as well..as it will be a lot cheaper..i can handle the wait.

in this case ordering from hong kong is much more likely to be faster since hot toys figures come out there first.

unfortunately, play's prices have shot up too.

this whole exchange rate thing is really starting to depress me. all the uk retailers are terrible - expensive and late. ebay used to be a godsend - cheaper and quicker. but now the prices aren't that low anymore. to think i used to pay about 60 to 65 quid for hot toys figs. that was about a year ago. now it's starting to be double that.

If it's like it is in Australia, they get their Hot Toys from Sideshow, so it goes from Hong Kong to America and back to England. A very expensive excercise. e.g. Machiko is A$350 = Approx Pounds 170. Newer releases may be more. If this isn't the case, then I'd call it profiteering.

Why they can't buy from Hot Toys direct and in bulk is a mystery. They could sell more of them for a better price and still be making more profit.

I'm a UK dealer and I understand your pain!!!

BUT when I buy from my suppliers in HK and Enterbay, you must realize that I get charged duty and VAT on each consignment and my HT suppliers and Enterbay can not mark down the price due to insurance.

EG. My last lot of HT BR Jokers, I had 16 units delivered and 2 was damaged as in crushed box, there is no way I would be able to claim if my supplier marked down as gifts and with low value.

With the buying power of FP the price is high, I would of expect the price to be lower than mine but its the other way round!

Creecher, I would love to buy from HT direct, had initial contact with them, my wife even spoke with Howard, then all went dead so we gave up, not sure what the reason was maybe because I'm an official Enterbay supplier!

br has the best prices in the UK and easily the best service. he's the only retailer i know in this country that actually cares about his customers. and i totally agree with what he says - prices are higher because of the poor exchange rate and for distributors like him, dodgy customs stuff is out of the question.

but if his prices are lower than fp, then something is quite wrong. i know he reduces his profits to a bare minimum for us, but like he says - fp is a BIG company. i bet they get a much better wholesale rate. so what gives? maybe creecher is right when he says things go via sideshow. but i'm not sure about that, because a lot of the HT stuff they sell aren't up on sideshow's site, so they must have another more direct supplier.

Aren't you able to claim your VAT back as you're a business, I know my boss does.

Or do you do it as more of a hobby business and not a registered company ?

I don't know a lot about the business side of things so please don't think I'm having a go or anything is a genuine question. :)

Thanks ES!

Still need you to come and peel some 'tata's for my chippy!!!

I care about my customers, easy to loose and hard to gain!

I have ordered 3 batches of BR Jokers and the 1st batch I actually made a complete loss of about £15 each figure due to the exhange rate, but I'm not complaining as in business you have to take loses, as long as my customers are happy, you have to take the rough with the smooth.

Nocturne, Good Question!
I wish my OneSixthBruce business totals up to the VAT threashold, but it dont, It is a company but I do more on hobby than 100% everyday at the office type of business (I have 2 other business, so I actually like how my figure business is run at the moment)

FP usually overcharge for things and even with the exchange not being as good as it once was I should think it'll be cheaper to import them.

Ahh do you have to have a certain amount of Turnover to be able to claim the VAT back then ?

And I'll keep you in mind next time I'm after a Hot Toys, would much rather support a small business than a chain store :) we have too many chain stores.

Miss the days of poking around in all these individual cooky shops, you just never know what you'd find :D
