I got my set and watched Frankenstein last night. Its like watching a brand new movie filmed in black and white. Unbelieveable.

Great news, I've been hearing so much great things about this set. Gonna go and see if I can pick up the coffin set at my local HMV when I get a day off. If not I'll just go with amazon. Just need to make sure I get it before halloween. :rock

OH GOODIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!:yess: I AM SO GLAD TO HEAR THAT!:yess:

NOW WHAT ABOUT BRIDE? TELL ME! TELL ME! TELL ME!:monkey5

Nick

I am going to pop that one in next. Just finished Dracula. Dracula made the whole purchase worth it. Film grain doesnt bother me, and clean up is phenomenal.

There is a scene in Frankenstein that blows my mind. The sequence where the monster attacks Valdeman and Dr. Frankenstein at the stairs. There are chains overtop Valdeman's head. You can see water on them reflected in the light. When Valdeman hits the steps, a now noticeable cloud of dust erupts from the floor. They did a great job cleaning these up.

I was seriously in the naysayer's camp on blu ray for these creaky creepies. But the clean up is really excellent, Mr. Renfield. Excellent. :peace:peace

:lecture Nice Anton.
Thanks for sharing those pics.

I'd also like to get a hold of the Spanish version of Dracula. Supposedly, it's superior. In which way, I don't know. But I'd like it as part of my collection nonetheless. :yess:

The Spanish version sucks. I LOL when I hear it's better then the original; such pretentious, know-it-all critics. The guy that played Dracula in the spanish version can't hold a candle to Lugosi's Drac. That guy looked like a silly caricature.

So are the Discs/content/etc the same in both the US and the Coffin (UK) version? The only difference being the packaging (obviously) and the price? Looking to get these my for Dad for his birthday this month and if its the same thing for half the price, then the coffin is definately the way to go.

Since both versions are region free, I do believe that they are identical sans the packaging.

I think what they mean is the direction and use of the sets. They knew full well that Carlos Viarilla couldn't hold a candle (pun intended) to Lugosi's Dracula. :peace

Its also a little longer, saucier, and energetic than the English Dracula. but I cannot watch it very often. Because the Bela version is a favorite of mine.

I heard the UK edition is missing a commentary track, but otherwise everything is the same.

Still waiting impatiently for my UK dispatch. No tracking sucks. I check the front door for a delivery every time I return home!

It's just the outside box

What really? Damn I think the spanish version of Dracula is an interesting watch, what a fascinating thing to have?
I mean as a novelty item. I found it very interesting, it's an extra. And I never listen to critics.

Just checked amazon uk and they only have one copy left of the coffin set and the price has jumped up to £58. Bet most went overseas to the freaks. :lol

Edit: just checked again and it's gone up AGAIN to £65. What the hell.

I know, I waiting to see if it was in my local HMV, failing that I was gonna wait till my birthday in a weeks time. But didn't wanna risk it so just ordered from play.com. Suppose I could have waited and gone for the regular edition but the coffin just looks so cool. :)

Well my copy is shipping DHL Global, which I've read horrible things about.. so I hope it gets here by the 19th. No updates since the 3rd. Amazon tracking is usually pretty weak though. Meh.
