What? Didnt need the gore? That was the best thing about the movie! This movie without the gore would be way worse then it was.

Watching the Wolfman tear people to shreads was so entertaining. And they were done really well, and without too much camp. Very cringe inducing. But still awesome.

I swear, I dont even remember what the point of the movie was. I mean...it didnt really have a plot. It jumped around too many places, and had zero character development. I dont even know what the hell Talbot was doing anywhere....he just...walked into a scene, moped, said a line...and left. I dunno. We needed more of him. I couldnt feel sorry for him.

But seriously, the Wolfman stuff is worth seeing. It's great stuff. Everything else? Ehhh....

This is after more thinking time. More I think about it, the less I like it.

I actually find this kind of information very valuable in "weighting" the different reviews and opinions I am reading. The fact that the two of you don't like the original speaks volumes to me about whether I am likely to share your opinion of the new film. And I don't mean that as a criticism of either of you, but simply as an indicator that our tastes are not likely to be very similar, at least on this matter. :peace

Ummm, I actually like the original and I don't ever recall saying otherwise. I do remember saying I preferred the new version, and that I didn't think the original was anything special, or in the same league as some of the other UM originals. I do not regard a film to be a "classic" simply because of it's originality, or because it is filmed in B&W. I did not find the original story/screenplay or character development that compelling. To me, it was a solid, well made movie, but hardly what I would call a classic.

I would suggest that you stop with the excuses and actually see the movie for yourself, but it seems you have already made up your mind so what's the point? Sadly, you have done so not as a result of your own personal experience, rather you have allowed the experiences and opinions of others to do it for you.

Saw it last night with my wife for our Valentine's Day date (I am a lucky guy!). I've been waiting for this like I awaiting King Kong 5 years ago. It was everything I wanted it to be. Fast paced, atmospheric, RICK BAKER, great effects, and a fun time. Some interesting twists I didn't expect. A great monster movie like they made in the old days! After enduring Frankenstein (bad make-up on DeNiro and a bloated script) and Dracula (Keanu Reeves???) we finally have a great re-make/re-vamp!!

I also got the Mezco Mez-itz Wolfman last night as an unexpected gift!

Woo-hoo! He'll terrorize my Mighty Muggs Thor and Thing on my work desk!

Seriously, people with an appreciation for the Wolfman will love the care that was taken with this film, it was a lot of fun!!

I call him little Benicio

hahah but I liked this movie alot. Maybe its because the crapstream we've had with twilight turning my favorite childhood monsters into feminine little....well I cant say it here...any way has anyone seen the 12 inch mezco wolfman? The sculpts very nice and maybe a repaint by one of the artists on the board could really make it great

Kabukiman, How old is your son? My parents would have taken me to see this at age 10 or later. I saw PSYCHO in the theater when I was 4. My folks had no problem whatsoever with the violence, but let a girl drop her top, and we were out of the theater.

I think it all depends on the individual kid. If he can handle the violence, then I would take a 10-12 year old to see it. I saw THE EXORCIST when I was 12, and turned out okay.

Oh he's seen his share of horror movies, but the problem is that the theaters in the area won't let children in. Even if accompanied by an adult. :monkey2

Are we brothers, then? :lol This is exactly the way my parents were. They taught me all the behind the scenes stuff about special effects, and I had no problem knowing the violence was faked. But if someone got naked...game over.:angelsmil

Kabukiman, that sucks. When did Oprah and movie theaters decide what our kids can and cannot see? R-rating means no one under 17 without PARENT.

Dr, Phibes - Yes, we are brothers in that sense. Everything was cool until the nudity and sex started creeping into horror films in the early 70's. That's when the folks started taking me less and less. I vividly remember being escorted out to the parking lot during COUNT YORGA, because a chick was rubbing herself in a most suggestive way. I asked my Mom about missing the rest of the double feature (HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD,) and she informed me that "the movies are over for today."

After that chick drained that little kitten, she would've had to have done a whole lotta rubbin to get anyone other than Yorga to smooch her. Shame you missed HTDB...no sensuality at all in that one, and a great film.

Oprah is a hypocrite. She's always telling people to eat right and maintain weight when she's a stick and then lays off all that talk when she's the size of Unicron.

My mom and I would have eaten up WOLFMAN with a spoon back in the day. Here's a partial list of films I saw with my parents either in their initial release, or during roadshow performances:

DRACULA, PRINCE OF DARKNESS
PSYCHO
PIT AND THE PENDULUM
HOUSE OF USHER
HOUSE OF WAX
THE REPTILE
REVENGE OF FRANKENSTEIN
DR. PHIBES (both)
DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE
THE GORGON
CONQUEROR WORM
ASYLUM
TALES FROM THE CRYPT
THE EXORCIST (uncomfortable during the crucifix part)
just to name a few.

Then in 1978, I could go by myself - AWESOME. Hell, I saw DAWN OF THE DEAD at the drive-in!

F Oprah ! She's a Fat Hypocrite

An R-rated motion picture, in the view of the Rating Board, contains some adult material. An R-rated motion picture may include adult themes, adult activity, hard language, intense or persistent violence, sexually-oriented nudity, drug abuse or other elements, so that parents are counseled to take this rating very seriously. Children under 17 are not allowed to attend R-rated motion pictures unaccompanied by a parent or adult guardian. Parents are strongly urged to find out more about R-rated motion pictures in determining their suitability for their children. Generally, it is not appropriate for parents to bring their young children with them to R-rated motion pictures.

As I said in the movies and tv show section, for this movie...I enjoyed the the film. A few scenes I felt were slow, but the scenes of him wolfing out and such, just amazing!

Upon my second viewing, I decided I liked the movie as a whole, with the exception of
that very gay and poorly edited wolf fight in the ending. It was just such a mess of cgi and choppy cuts, and felt very out of place in this slowly paced gothic horror film.

Everything else, including the scenes following that were actually very good.

The Wolfman..

Just saw the film today and have to ask, would any of you guys be down for a 1/6 Wolfman from Hot Toys?Maybe 16-18 inches with real like hair and fur, possibly a rubber body?

Re: The Wolfman..

I have seen the film 2 ..it was good ..but some scenes kinda disappointed me ...overall well worth a look ..and its nice 2 see the classic werewolves after twilight ruined them along with the vampires.

But ya i would be up 4 a hot toys wolfman ..id like 2 see a few more stand alone figures anyway ..would look awesome with real hairs and the blood drenched shirt ...a bad film does not stop me from buying an awesome fig i did buy enterbays piccolo afterall..so if the film had been awful ..i would still pick one up if hot toys made him ..his design is just cool.
