Could it be a recast piece? If it the sample piece i think it would said sample piece at the bottom of the base. The next best thing to do is ask SS. Can you post some pictures?

That is hands down a Marvel sample, I own a grey hulk dio that has the same number issuance and it is a legit sample, so relish in knowing that you got an AWESOME deal!

actually i got 2 pieces in the past that were un-numbered direct from sideshow but both pieces had to be returned for damage and both were marvel 1 was thor exc other was hulk spidey dio exc. they just forgot to number it they told me

Ya from the input here it looks like its a marvel sample and not an artist proof or recast. As a new collector I was reading some of the recast threads on here which freaked me out a bit. But I did buy this from a legit store that carries alot of showcase stuff and the statute itself looks just like the sideshow pics and other pics I have seen. I am still waiting to get additional info from Sideshow. Im going to call them again tomorrow.

Also, can premium formats even be recast since there is various materials incorpoarated into them? It sounded to me like recasts were only happening with polycast statues.

The only thing that I can think of is that some collectors like a number on the bottom of a piece but then there are others that like the sample and believe it's worth more sometimes. I guess it depends on who you ask though for representation of the value of the statue.

I like the NON numbered ones or A/P only for personal preference, but as long as it is in MINT condition, it truly makes no difference or slight @ the very most.

i've got quite a few of these marvel sample pieces and i can say for certain that most if not all of the "Marvel Sample" pieces actually have the words written on the bottom.

from what information i've been able to get, the Marvel Sample pieces were the actual pieces that were sent back and forth between Marvel Corp. and Sideshow/manufacturer. this would lead me to believe that these unnumbered pieces that are around are probably pieces that were made and sent only to Marvel of sideshow for display purposes only, and were not shipped back and forth from the different companies.

they did the problem with that one was hulks head was removable and not permanently on. Sort of cool looking jush a huge squre peg.
