Funny, I always thought TT was the best of the three. The whole night battle at Helm's Deep was beautifully done, as was Gollum's introduction and characterization. Now THAT may be an unpopular opinion. I always thought FOTR moved very slowly (though, so did the book, so I've never faulted Jackson for it). I do agree that ROTK is the worst of the three, though. Overly long, and I've always felt the whole Paths of the Dead segment could've been skipped like the Barrow-Downs, Tom Bombadil, and Saruman's Shire takeover, without losing anything (and possibly gaining by it's absence).

:goodpost: :exactly:
I have the exact same take on the LOTR movies as you do. When I think of great second films in a series TT ranks right up there with ESB IMO.

Interesting: While I wouldn't say it's "great cinema," I enjoyed Ant-man far more than I thought I would. But then, I enjoy Paul Rudd and his style of comedy. He did, of course, just play himself as always.

Here's an unpopular Marvel opinion: I think the stand-alone Iron Man films are awful. Every one of them. Tony works in an ensemble, but not by himself. The reason: He's a rich, entitled, know-it-all prick. Plain and simple. And I just can't cheer for him, hard as I try. I know that's not a good reason not to like a film, but if you can't cheer for the hero...meh. Give me Cap any day.

I'll give you Iron Man 3

That would definitely qualify as "unpopular" thought I do love TTT. Because the film is all about Helm's Deep though I do prefer the theatrical cut since it gets to that segment so much quicker.

TTT is my favorite of the 3 as well. TTT, FotR, RotK

While I'm in the mood:
Ant-Man is not good by any stretch of the imagination.

Finally something we can agree on :lol

Iron Man 1 is my favorite movie from the MCU but I do agree with the other two making up some of the worst movies in the MCU.

Viggo can speak 5 languages fluently, including Spanish.

Yeah, he was raised in Argentina, so he speaks Spanish with an Argentinian accent, except in Carlitos Way because he wasn't playing an Argentinian.

Pacino can wear really big shoes with thick heels. :lol

All he needs is a 3/4 leather jacket that he wore for the last 20 years in most of his roles.

:lol:lol

IM2 is quite a mess- very unfocused and all over the place...I enjoyed IM3 because at least it was original as far as departing from an IM "formula".
IM was BEST in Avengers as far as flat out IM showing all his abilities

I'm just going to take this time to get some things off my chest.

The Phantom Menace is as good as any of the OT Star Wars movies.
Jar Jar Binks is awesome.
Return of the Jedi is better than Empire.
Schumacher's Batman Forever is better than Nolan's entire Dark Knight trilogy.
Schumacher's Batman & Robin is awesome.
Batman Begins is Nolan's only good Batman movie.
The Last Crusade is the best Indy movie.
Bryan Singer's X-Men movies are better than any movie ever released by Marvel Studios.

Go ahead and hate me as much as you want internet, I don't care at all :blissy
