I like the OG Star Trek movies. I love the way Bones and Spock play off each other.

TWoK is just a good flick. You don't don't have to like or know anything about Star Trek to enjoy it. The reboot version is super weak. Cumberbatch's Khan pales in comparison to Montalban.

TOS and NexGen are good time killers and I watch them every now and then on Neflix. For NexGen, the episode 'The Inner Light' is one I really like.

The other spins off, meh.

Agreed.

Also agree. In fact when I was a kid my aunt and uncle who were much bigger sci-fi geeks than my parents were took me to see Wrath of Khan at the theater and I was shocked at how intense and disturbing (and good) it was. I even remember there being a pretty significant buzz at school about what happened to Spock when ST III came out. I was in junior high when ST IV came out and no one I knew thought the "save the whales" plot sounded cool so I skipped that one, then ST V came out and was supposed to be so horrible (to the point where I have yet to see it to this day) which I believe was also around the same time that lesbian juror made national news for showing up to court in a Starfleet uniform every day which was a one-two punch of lameness so great that I just completely wrote off ST for a while. I did go see ST VI at the theater (other than T2 there wasn't much to see in the summer of '91) and enjoyed the exciting finale with the Kirk and Sulu teaming up against the Klingon ship.

Didn't like any of the new shows (TNG, Voyager, whatever else) decided to give the one movie that had the Borg chick a chance and hated that, haven't bothered with any other Trek since. But I am finding some new appeal with Kirk's crew again.

The reboot version is super weak.

Yeah, even with Abrams trying to turn ST into SW I just haven't gotten into the reboots. Skipped both at the theater and didn't care for them after watching them On Demand.

Funny how divisive Trek is, even within the community. My favorite is TOS, no doubt about that, but DS9's last 3 seasons or so were amazing. True, it took them 4 years to get to the point, but it's still amazing. Voyager I can leave, as well as Enterprise (except the final season, that one was pretty consistently great).

TNG is a tough one. Loved it as a kid. Still like the characters. But everything was so clean and antiseptic, and the people were all perfect cardboard cutouts. Even Worf; He only grazed the surface of his coolness before DS9. It tended to rely way too much on the technobabble to get them out of situations. Not particularly interesting to a non-Trekkie.

Every series has it's great episodes - though I think DS9 probably has the most.

What's really telling is your favorite episode, period. Mine? Not exactly unpopular, but maybe not common: "The Trouble With Tribbles."

I liked the episode where Picard (mentally) lived an entire lifetime on a planet as a different person after being scanned by a probe. It was a good opportunity to show off his acting ability.

As good as that was....what a mind **** it should have been when he's back to being Picard again. That really ought to have had very very long-lasting effects on him. I can't remember exactly if it did.

Agreed, something like that would have to haunt you your whole life. It's one episode that really stood out for me.

Totally with you on the DS9 love. The Dominion War was the best thing to happen to Star Trek since the crew of the Reliant mistook Ceti Alpha V for Ceti Alpha VI.
My favorite episode: "In the Pale Moonlight"

By my count Marvel/Disney has made 3 terrible films(IM3, Thor, TDW) and 1 really mediocre one in Ant-Man.

Also I hate that Spider-Man is back in the MCU because they are pushing Black Panther aside to make room for everyone's favorite manchild.

Darth Zangetsu, I almost agree with your math except I count Age of Ultron in the mediocre category with Ant-Man

Two years prior he was assimilated into Borg Collective which used his knowledge and experience to gain tactical advantage during their first incursion into Federation space. Pretty sure that livin' through someone else's peaceful life is not as traumatic as being turned into a mindless cybernetic slave. Still, it was a very powerful episode and one of my most favorite in the entire franchise.

Panther is gettin' his solo Marvel Studios film.
Spidey solo films are still produced by SONY.

Sure that was harsh - but brief. I need to watch Inner Light again but if indeed he lived a lifetime (albeit from his then age as Picard) that means he had to put the memories of the Enterprise behind him (did he remember the Enterprise and his crew? Did he know he was Picard?) and come to accept and love the people in his new life for however many years that ended up being. Then he gets snapped back to a reality which, from his POV, was decades ago. It'd be quite a readjustment unless I'm remembering wrong.

They do actually reference this a few times.....he plays that flute again.....
