I lost Josh and Ashley earlier than the others due to making a decision to investigate something or messing up on a QTE.

So yes, maybe not as early as you assumed I meant. I could have explained better.

man I lost chris because I kept hitting the wrong button /..... daaamn

Just finished my second run through and managed to get everyone out alive! Even the wolf! (that should be a bonus achievement IMO) I don't think I'd have managed that so easily without looking up how online. It all comes down to certain, seemingly meaningless choices and knowing when to run or hide. After getting them all out alive, it seems pretty obvious the developers expect you to lose
Matt and Jess. They just disappear for most of the game. Jess is gone until the end after you chase her down. Matt just disappears for half the game after jumping to safety. That seemed odd. He wasn't even knocked out or anything like Jess. I guess it just stood around for a couple of hours. I'd have liked to see a little more play of them until they join together at the end for one last chance to die.
I guess they could only have so many outcomes and still have the game's story remain intact. I'd hope for a sequel, you could end up with a vastly different game if certain characters live or die, possibly even having totally different types of endings. They make it very obvious who the main characters of this game are by their lack of an ability to die until the very final minutes of the game. I'd hope a sequel could go the Psycho or Scream route and have the 'big star' be able to die at the beginning, middle, end or anywhere in-between. I'll admit it was much more tense as I moved further and further into the game without losing a single character. I screwed up once by letting
Sam get captured by "the Mystery Man"
so I just replayed that chapter. After I did that, I found out my choices had reverted back to my original game play through, which meant I had already lost
Jess
and had to go all the way back to the chapter to prevent that death! Which meant I also lost the changes I made from my original play through, which was probably for the best because I did everything different from my first play through, which basically got everyone pissed at each other and probably would have led to deaths :rotfl

I just have a handful of clues and 2 totems to go back and grab now and a final play through where I kill everyone, hopefully in a different way from my first play through. Its a bit disappointing that
Sam and Mike
can only die
at the end in the lodge. Mike literally can only blow up and Sam getting killed by the Wendigo
.

This is probably my favorite game I've played this year, and I was really looked forward to Arkham Knight! I almost didn't even order this, but I'm super glad I did. Like I'd even buy a full cast of HT characters glad I bought this game. I know its extremely unlikely this game ever gets figures of any sort, but I would certainly buy them. Anything from Minimates to Hot Toys! So I'd love a sequel to this game (preferably with an all new cast and story, not unlike American Horror Story). A movie with the same cast would be awesome, but I think the lack of an ability to choose your path in a theater would lose something from the story. It would be cool if they could work that out for a Blu Ray release though. Again, another unlikelihood, but still a fun thought.

I'm with you...I held off getting a ps4 for so long, and that my queue to get one is arkham knight, and then this game.
Was very underwhelmed by arkham knight, but this game exceeded my expectation.
As cool as the trailers showed, part of me keeps thinking, it'll be cool in the beginning, but it'll be an ok game by the end.
To my surprise, it even gets better in the end.

My one nitpick is that surely, someone would have turned on the lights in the mansion in the beginning, which of course was shown later on that it can be turned on, but no one did. So most of the game, even in the living room, it's like they have to use flashlight to light up the place.
So the game was dark all the way through.

It should have been bright in the house, but it's gets creepy dark once you go to the basement, or other creepy areas.
So that you get a little bit of break. Just like in silent hill where some places are lit, but once you have to descend to the darker areas, you start to feel dread.
This game was dark all the way through. And it doesn't make sense, no one bothered to turn on the lights when there is power.

But this is just a nitpick. I freaking love this game, and definitely will play my 3rd run around Halloween. 😄

If you have a Vita or 3DS you should check out Zero Escape. It's a lot like this with the multiple endings and trying to save characters from dying.

I'm in the final chapter now. Really hope I can manage to keep everyone alive. I would really hate to screw up that part and got everyone killed in the final scene.

BTW For those who finished the game, can you replay it without losing all your clues? I got all the Twins clues except for 1. So I'd like to get that one without having to redo everything.

Just finished my second play through. Matt and Josh didn't make it. :lol

I'll start a new game through later today. I need too find some totems and clues.

Yes, thankfully. You can also jump to any of the episodes and you'll continue from what you did on your first run through. For example, if you got Jess killed, you'd have to go back to that chapter at a minimum to be able to save everyone without having to start all the way over then. If everyone is still alive when chapter 10 starts, you'd only have to repeat that chapter. So whatever your first game was is your baseline. You can't jump from say chapter 4 to chapter 8 though and have those changes you made in your second run through of chapter 4 continue through when you jump to chapter 8. You'd have to play all the way through to get those changes go into effect in chapter 8.

I played the last few chapters again tonight and managed to get everyone killed (including the wolf). Much easier than saving everyone :lol Also managed to get all of the totems and clues today as well. I think the mystery man clues are rather dumb as they
are for both the psycho and flamethrower guy. Since you think its one guy at the beginning, I guess it saves the twist, but its a little confusing as you find out they are different but the clues are still lumped together

I haven't even played through Arkham Knight twice and I've gone through this a few times already. I'm honestly having a hard time remembering a game I enjoyed this much since probably Arkham Asylum. Unlike Arkham City's annoying Riddles to track down, the clues are actually cool to find as they further reveal the mystery and story of the game. Those riddles were just busy work and rather pointless other than being able to finally take out Riddler. So kudos for them making the optional stuff to track down worthwhile and meaningful, normally something I don't care about in games because of them being so trivial.

YES!! I managed to have everyone survive on my first playthrough. It wouldn't have been possible if I hadn't already read some tips & tricks. I think Matt is the easiest to lose 'cause the choices you have to make in order for him to survive aren't the most logical ones.
- Disagree going to the radio tower
- Give the flare gun to Matt
- Save Emily

or
- Agree going to the radio tower
- Don't try to save Emily

Agreeing to go to the radio tower makes the most sense. You'd wanna call help if you were in that situation. I know most people hate Emily but even so, it still makes sense that you'd try to save her.

There is one plot element about the main antagonist that doesn't quite add up to me :
Whilst playing as Emily in the mines, we come across the area where Beth and Hannah fell. We find Hannah's glasses, Beth's locket, markings on the wall where Hannah counted the days, Beth's head and Beth's cross, implying that Hannah buried her there.

Then in Chapter 10, near the water area, Sam and Mike find Beth's dug-up grave and Hannah's diary explaining she dug up the body and cannibalized it. It also mentions that Hannah broke her leg in the fall. Now as far as I can tell, the fall area and the water area are no where near each other. So how on earth did Hannah manage to move Beth's body and bury her there whilst suffering from a broken leg? That made no sense to me.

Still, this was an awesome game and I plan to replay it again soon.

I beat the game last night, I haven’t enjoyed a game this much in a long time.

I have a movie like that where you choose your own path throughout the movie. It is a pretty cool concept and I really enjoyed it. The movie is called Scourge of Worlds - A Dungeons and Dragons Adventure. It is a CGI movie from 2003. A live action movie with the actors from the Until Dawn game would be pretty cool though.

I think this is the first game in a long time where I've played it and haven't experienced any bugs or glitches.
Kinda surprising to me.

Just throwing it out there, but does this kind of come off like Heavy Rain? I was considering on buying, but I absolutely LOVED Heavy Rain. If it is; I may give it a go, and that is considering I'm not a horror fan.

Is there a high replay value? Seems like it's short.

For me there isn't because you can pretty easily tell which decisions actually matter, it initially seems like your early decisions will have more impact but they don't, really it only matters when you come to the time where someone can die and that's about half way into the game.
