A thing of beauty!

This is without a doubt the most impressive custom I have ever seen on these boards.

Thanks guys! :hi5: I was looking at the movie and I'm thinking about making my own shoulder armor pieces. I think individual pieces rigged together would look much better. Also - the HT pieces are too thick. And the corners of the top pieces don't reach inward towards the chest plate enough.

Just wanted to give you guys an update. I will have the interest thread up hopefully by the end of this coming weekend. Tin

:lol :lol :lol

An artist is NEVER done with their work. 99.99959% done... MAYBE

:rotfl I actually didn't make my own shoulder pads, but I did alter the HT ones. Pics coming soon.

I'm also working on a new flashlight that actually lights up :hi5:

While it would be awesome if you worked for Hot Toys, I'm afraid if you did that nothing would ever come out because you were always tweaking with it. :lol

I applaud your patience and need for the most accurate detail oriented figure though!!!

:bow :bow

Well. I'm really under no deadlines for this - so I'm driven only by my own obsessiveness :nana:

Tin, the best source for LEDs I have ever found is here: https://www.modeltrainsoftware.com/

Their service is excellent, and they have a huge supply of different LEDs in all colors and sizes, including VERY small.
They have tiny battery packs too, and in-line on/off switches.
I've been buying from them for years, and have always got exactly what I want there.
For your flashlight, if you decide to buy from them: Be sure to tell them to push the resistor back away from the bulb an inch or so. There's a small fee for this, (like $1.00 or something) but it will isolate the LED bulb for easy installation, while the resistor is further back on the wire.

I know you might already have the light all taken care of, but their selection and service is great. If not for this project, you might benefit from them in the future.

Thanks Anthrapoid! :hi5: Definitely bookmark this for the future. For Kane's flashlight - I found this bicycle clip light.

Originally - I was going to make a housing for the batteries within Kane's backpack. Then wire it out to the flashlight. But once I took the guts out of this bicycle clip light - it all can fit into Kane's flashlight. My new version of the flashlight also has a boxier body since I did a screencapture form the bluray and the flashlight in the movie isn't quite so fancy as the one I made previously. So it has a little more room.

Custom chest plates version 2:

- Thinner overall
- Inner piping instead of edge piping (more screen accurate)
- Slightly wider when seen from the front. Previous version was a little too narrow. Also addes slight taper going towards the bottom.
- Revised the back rigging so that the plates nest more uniformly with each other.

I also modified the shoulder armor pieces.

I was originally going to just make new armor pieces from scratch, but it would have been really difficult to make them left-right symmetrical - and they would have possibly been even bulkier than the HT pieces.

Instead I took the x-acto to them and isolated each layer of armor. So you end up with three pieces of armor for each side. I then took the dremel to each piece - carefully thinning them out by stripping away plastic from the inner sides. If you do this - be careful not to go so deep that you end up dremelling clear through to the front. Then you're screwed.

After getting each piece thinned out - you can then nest the pieces back within each other and have them overlap each other more so than the original HT pieces. You can also have them nested less uniformly so that they have a more natural appearance. The original HT pieces were sculpted way too symmetrical from all angles. And also were too big.

Here are some photos of Kane with the new shoulder armors - also with the new chest plates (I still have to paint and weather the brims). The rigging for the plates allow the plates to nest much more flushed to each other.

The chest plates look great- much closer to film-accurate than the original did. For myself, separating the shoulder plates is going to be too much work, considering how many other fixes I still need to do. I think I'll just thin them out as a whole from behind, so they hug the body more closely. It's great what you did though.
