May as well make a full thread for this now. I'm really enjoying trying to learn to sculpt so a thread for my progress seems like a good idea.
Here's something I've started today , it's still really really rough, worked about two hours on it so far.

It's about 1/5 scale , I'm not really focusing on scale for the time being , more just learning to get things to look right. :)

Here's my Creeper sculpt that I haven't touched since taking the photos a few months ago.

I'll check it out indeed. I watched Oldboy and well...

:rotfl:lol As much as I love Oldboy I know what you mean. The Chaser is more just a straight forward thriller , a very good one.

A little more detailing today , two things I've learnt so far, time flies when you're sculpting and it's incredibly hard to take a photograph of what you're seeing in hand.

Keep it buddy :rock

Something I have wanted to try, but I just don't have the b******s :lol

Looking good so far :duff

One suggestion I found helpful on eyes is to use either a very small sphere (like a BB) or make and bake them. If you have a hard surface to sculpt over, it makes getting the shape and thinness of the eyelids much easier.

Sick, Tay!!!! Since we're both learning to sculpt, we can help each other out. If you come up with some cool techniques let me know and I'll do the same. :hi5:

Thanks for all the kind words and advice guys. :duff:1-1:

I restarted this , I'm back to around 1/6 scale now. :lol I figure if I practice every day surely I can only get better. :rotfl

The photo below has a photoshopped beard. I'm thinking that once I'm done with this sculpt I should boil it and then add the hair. Last time I was working on the hair I pushed a lot of the features around and messed the face up a little , I need some better tools also, detailing isn't so easy with what I've got.

Eyes and lips drive me insane and detailing ears is a nightmare for me , things I need to work on for sure. It's great to work on projects of characters from movies you love though , gives you more of a push to carry on and get better.

Awesome im glad your just getting started sculpting too, looking foward to seeing your progress!

One thing I've been doing is I will sculpt and bake in stages... now the downside to this is if you want to alter something later it's kind of a pain. But I will sculpt the main features of the face (leaving indentations where hair; ears, facial hair etc. will go) then bake. Then sculpt one ear, bake... the other ear, then bake, etc until I have a completed head.

I've found this works pretty well to prevent damaging previous work.

Getting there;)
With my resculpts on hair I find it easier to get a basic shape and then carve indvidual hairs.
With a more messsy hair style like this you can get away with less fine detail.
Nice to have lots of loose strands but abugger to paint and rasily broken.
Very good likeness so far though keep it up mate.

Thanks guys , I've ran out of sculpey again so I'll just be refining and thinning out the nose until more arrives. I'm going to make this one a bust I think so I'll be sculpting clothing and I'm determined to finish it this time since I always end up restarting half way.

I'm not that happy with the hair , it definitely needs work, the strands are too individual and big , it all needs pushing together a little.

I'm having fun with this though !.

My biggest fear is sculpting ears :lol , luckily they can be covered with hair with this character but it's something I need to keep practicing.

EARS & EYES are a pain in the ***!!!
haha im a beginner when it comes to sculpting so i feel your pain. looks nice man
