I'm actually on the fence about canceling this one... not due to the helmet (as I really don't care) but rather I think I want to wait for a different version. I'm still holding out hope for a plain B&W, or maybe a Shock Trooper.

Utapau just isn't my favorite look.

Update in the Q&A for today:

Q1: The new Star Wars clone armor looks great, but why is the helmet sculpt so inaccurate in the ‘chin’ area? With all the other companies to compare and the source itself, I’m surprised it’s not as accurate as the rest. Any chance of resculpting it? It affects every clone that uses this helmet.

Q2: I was just wondering - When you showcase a prototype figure, how much change can be done to the figure after that? For example, I hear/read many people talk about the inaccuracy of the helmet on Sideshow’s Utapau Clone Trooper 12-inch Figure - specifically the bottom half of the helmet. Can this be changed before production starts, or what we see is what we get?

A: We believe that when the final production photos are released, you’ll see some improvement in the detail of the lower helmet section (especially in the vents). We do strive to capture the nuances and details to the best of our abilities, but yes, changes can be made after the prototype images are released.

That's right ^^^^^! And I'll always be there, one step ahead of you :lol

Now lets hope Irish's ego doesn't get any bigger because of this news :lol

From what I can tell by looking at the movie and not production stills, the Sideshow version looks to me to be a little more screen-accurate (NONE of them are perfect). I almost hope Sideshow doesn't cave to the whining and change too much.

The examples Irish posted capture what I feel is the right look, probably because of merchandising and not necessarily paying attention to the movie, but the helmet in it's proto form didn't match my mental vision of the CT from ROTS, hopefully these updates take it the rest of the way, especially because, as has been stated, it'll impact future Clones.

so the sky isn't falling after all? imagine that.:dunno

You realize it likely would not have been changed if there hadn't been people to speak up about it. The Sideshow rep on this board didn't notice the inaccuracies until they were pointed out to him in a photo comparison.

Darth Cruel, I have posted screen captures of the 1080p version of ROTS. All of the high-end merchandise available closely match the movie CGI models except for Sideshow's 1:6.

This is all good.

Lightsabers change color, blasters are added, now this. Speaking up is good. Just not too loudly.

Based on the info that the helmet will be fixed, placed my order online....glad the exclusive is lame for this....can get it a bit cheaper via cornerstorecomics....

Great news! Good to know that they are listening to their consumers. Can't wait to see pics of the changes. Thanks Sideshow for going the extra mile to give fans an accurate piece!
