The only thing on the tweaks list that could be affected by photography is the curvature of the grated area, the visor and the aerator openings are just different.

That is absolutely not true. Sideshow's Boushh, Stormtrooper and Vader look great! No complaints. Gentle Giant and Kotobukiya have made some outstanding looking Clone helmets in the 1/6 scale. Of course nothing is perfect. The issues with the Sideshow Clone helmet aren't that things are a millimeter off here or there. It's that parts of it are shaped wrong so the helmet looks odd. Like Sean said, it's like sculpting Mark Hamill's chin on Harrison's face.

From the comparison pic you posted, it looks like they tried stretching the square to a hexagon, but that is it sculpting wise. They left the part inside the hexagon the same, just painted a little more silver on it. They also painted the black on the visor down to the mouth grill. I feel like this is deja vu, so I am done.

Uh.... I seem to remember you starting a whole thread based on a pic where you brutalized the contrast to point out some otherwise unnoticeable threads in Vader's cape. Josh has a point. Regardless of how "perfect" Sideshow makes something for the Star Wars (and sadly now Indy - Belloq's likeness being the exception) audience, there will always be someone to whine about something that isn't 1:6 perfection.

....and...that's something we're ALL "guilty" of with EVERY license of figure in here...it's part of why we're here! :)

It is obvious that SOME changes were made on the trooper's head gear from the prototype, but judging from the comp shots seen in this thread so far, there are still some differences.

Will there be more changes? Doubtful since the figure must be in production by now to make the anticipated April release. I'll withhold judgment on it's final appearance until it's sitting right in front of me...but I can't imagine Sideshow disappointing collectors (or themselves) with the initial release of what will most likely be the first of many clones from ROTS...

Oh come on.

It's not just Star Wars.

Anything with a (big) fan base has people who care a lot for the source material and like to see it replicated as best as it can be.

Yup, TDK Batman figure thread is a perfect example.

The nice thing, which feeds the vocalization of discontent, is that Sideshow and Hot Toys listen to the fans. While I do feel in some ways HT doesn't give a ^^^^ about its fans, it does make changes to figures when things are pointed out enough.

I personally wouldn't be saying squat about this CT helmet if it weren't that I thought it would help to get even better product. If I had no reason to think SSC would ever listen and work further on their work, I wouldn't speak up, but they do listen, and I hope they keep listening on this matter.

First off, I never edited any pics of Vader. Whatever I posted in that thread was directly copied from posts by other members in the forum.
So telling me I 'brutalized the contrast...blah, blah, blah' is completely wrong.

Secondly, Josh and I were referring to the accuracy and unattainable 'perfection' of the helmets, as has been the topic for the majority of this thread. This is no such thing as perfection. But when all the other collectible companies set a certain threshold for attention to detail, it is perplexing that Sideshow could not have at least matched it.

I have absolutely no complaints about Vader's helmet. I only wish Vader could ship sooner!!:banana

Thought I'd bump this thread since its due out in April and April is upon us.
Also noticed on the website in the photo gallery there are boxed pics up so I
would assume that the figure is done and ready to go.

I'm thinking we'll be seeing something in the newsletter this week or next.

If there is going to be delay to Vader's arrival, shouldn't we be getting this figure next? :)

One or the other I'd presume....either are most welcome, but it is almost back to the feats-or-famine release thing here...heck, I'm still enjoying the Stormtrooper...so much so I just got a second one in anticipation of Lord Vader, and I just got AOTC Obi-Wan....

Of course, I look forward to this Trooper too, to see how well he truned out. If it's anything close to the Stormtrooper...I'm gonna be real happy. :)

It does have an April release date on Sideshow's website...So I would assume this one is next, then Piett (June release date)...

Seeing how well the StormTroopers turn up, I do have certain expectations for this figure.:)

God Im an indecisive son of a barmaid

Cancelled this yet again,

Ordered it when it first came out, cancelled it due to doubts on the helmet and finances

finances changed

ordered it again, thought I might combine it with parts of a Koto Bly for a Bly

Recently received the Stormtrooper, didnt like the colour of the armour or what it was made out of, cant stand it next to a medi without seeing how grey it is, plus it just looked plain bulldog next to the Medi

So finances are tight again, looked at what was needed for a Bly conversion using Koto bly, looking at repainting most of the armour, and I may as well use the hollowed out Koto parts instead . . . so

Bang gone again

Looked at all my pre-orders and none of the HT ones I could bare to cancel

So Piett went as well . . . . yet again

Think I may have to cancel this aloso, Cobra commander is coming out at the same time, and the US-CDN exchange is still over 1.20

Man IHML

Got my notice today too!!!
I have 2 of these on order....come on AUD Vs USD!!!
The exchange rate is killer atm,a little better than 6 months ago though!!!
