The previous offering, Captain Antilles, isn't armored.

He was ANH still, and background, the only 2 non-armors amongst the armor now have been background ANH characters. All I'm really getting at is there is inbalance in the selections be it half a dozen Jedi in a year, ANH figures for a whole year, a slew of armor offerings. A good mix could give an alien, an armor, a background character, a core character. Sample a little of everything. ANH round 1 could do without Praji, Rebel Trooper and Antilles, put them out later, hit up ESB or something. ANH focus was really long.

You got a point there Maul. Never really thought about it but maybe that's why the line is seemingly lagging. (more folks selling SW figs in the commerce section than wall street stocks!)

I think part of the seemingly long focus on ANH recently could have been that many of these might've been lined up for the previous year (when it was the actual 30th anniversary of ANH was) and for whatever reasons were delayed and while it would've been pretty cool to see some of them during the anniversary. Also, fans/collectors were whining so much during the Jedi deluge about the OT not getting any love and bam! Here we have a slew of releases geared towards the OT...go figure...in the midst of that big group is Vader and his troopers so that's worth celebrating.

I think it's an exercise in frustration to try n' figure out Sideshow's logic in what they choose to produce and when. Next year is the 10th Anniversary of Episode One, and I'd bet NOTHING from that film is on the drawing boards from that film. ESB celebrates it's 30th in 2010...hey, if they plan now, we might actually see something fun on the release schedule from that great film.....we'll see, eh?

That's the thing, for every "group" they've done in the line, some group is innevitably unsatisfied with the choice.

If they mixed all of the various "groups" they've done to date over the past 3 years, then every year'd have something for everyone, just about, there are some that still haven't seen something they want, but what more can you do for them.

Right! And, one would think it shouldn't be that difficult to get the balance right, right? How hard can it be, to make up a balanced planning for the release of SW characters (EP I to VI)??? And if something unexpected should come up (although I really have a hard time of thinking about something), they could still anticipate. Either SSC is to unprofessional, or to much profit driven (FOUR Lukes! THREE Obis, TWO Leias, Two Hans, a herd of beasts to fill in with the Jabba scene, but NO Lando? NO Tarkin? Fortunately Vader and the Stormtrooper are fact today).

Im curious. Does any one know when the Sideshow Star Wars license expires? I havent kept up with SS business part of it all, but I remember reading in a "ask sideshow" answers, that their contract was only for 3 or 5 years or am I mistaken. Does anyone have any info on that.

We have understand that SS is a business first. They like to tell you how much they appreciate you as a collector, blah, blah blah. And maybe at first thats how it was. But in all businesses eventually money comes first. Imo, We get the Prajis and Antilles because SS knows that no matter what they put out, we will buy, pure and simple. So they put these obscure characters as fillers until we get the main ones, knowing that it will keep us SW fans "satisfied" in the mean time. Case in point look at the "extras" those figures come with almost NONE.

For as long as Hasbro has it. Even if theirs expires, I'm sure SS will work the Luca$ for the rights to continue the line.

I'm sure we will see Lando and Dooku (my most wanted) before long.

I don't quite get the armor b_tching but Lando and Dooku are way over due. They would be great assets to the line.

Ooooohhhhh...what is up with all of the hate? We are getting awesome figures. We all have to be patient for our favorites (except me...I already have Darth Maul).

Relax everyone. They will all get made.

Very cool, but are we sure this isnt a Medicom Clone Trooper?

Eric

The one in the promo shot doesn't have lines on it's suit which would be consistent with Medicom's suits. That would also explain the rather small shape of the body. The paint job is also very consistent with that of Medicom's clones too. I'm looking hard at the wrist of the figure and it looks an awful lot like the Medicom thick-post wrists. You may very well be absolutely right in your speculation....

Their belts and shoulder pads would be grey if they were from that legion...

Either that or I'm now colorblind...

:monkey5:monkey5:monkey5

I guess we'll never know...

You're right. The Coruscant clones all had the gray markings. But the clones in the scene where they're discussing the prophecy aboard the Command Gunship, the troopers are plain. They don't have the gray stripes on their armor that the Coruscant guard are supposed to have.

I don't either. Before they were here, that seemed to be one of the main gripes. Now that they are, people are griping. Go figure. At any rate, I'm stoked that we're finally getting clones and I'm in for two, the regular and an exclusive which will probably rear it's head at Spooktacular. I just hope we see a Republic Commando before they've run the course...

Interesting point, maybe an exclusive at Spooktacular could well be the extra Airborne trooper head ;)
Now wouldnt that be cool.....

Right, it's Sideshow's for a number of reasons.

An Airborne trooper would be it's own figure.

Different helmet, different paint markings, a 'skirt', some device strapped to his left bicep, something else on his left shoulder, some straps with, a right breast plate, and a bag with grenades (or whatever) on the strap.

Maybe they just didn't post the bottom of the image yet or intentionally omitted the RAH label until it's official debut? Another clue is that they use images from the film for the background of the Medicoms. I'd prefer a Sideshow, but I don't know. Here is actually 2 images directly linked from Sideshow's website of a main promo image for the ROTS trooper (right-click and "view image" for proof). The bottom is missing:

Again, this was pulled directly from Sideshow's website. When you click the link, notice the bottom has the Medicom logo and the Utapau image certainly does look chopped. Here's the link:
