Is this just a rehash using the son's family? That's what it sounds like and without the likes of Cousin Eddie will this be just a pale reflection of the original.

The trailer was funnier than i thought would be but i doubt this will be any good.

Only the original Vacation and Christmas Vacation were any good. European and Vegas were terrible so it's not a surprise that this will be bad too.

Great cast, not a single laugh from all those funny people. Not a good sign.

no subtlety... no freaking subtlety at all... the original's jokes were not gross over the top LOUD jokes, they were so subtle...

f- this

Sorry, but the last trailer that we saw this week with Spy was hilarious - I wasn't impressed by any of the earlier trailers, and was surprised to see some very positive things coming out about the flick early from festivals. But this last trailer - it was so damn funny, and captured the feel of the original humor really well. It may well be that they put all the best bits in this last trailer, but it did make the flick go from a maybe renter to see it the first weekend for me.

Don't apologize for not being cynical and angry about a movie. :lol
If this makes me at least chuckle and forget about things that stress me out for a little bit, it's done its job. :dunno

Surely you can't be serious.

I really do not recall the original being loud and gross and obnoxious.

This movie Might be funny, and i am curious to see it because the jokes in the trailer were funny, for modern kind of humor. but as far as the original Vacation movies I do not recall any of them having loud in your face kind of humor like this one does.

You're probably uaware, but in this day and age you're not allowed to like anything or be even remotely optimistic. You're supposed to be fully aware that EVERYTHING sucks and will be a huge failure even if it makes million and millions at the box office. Waiting until you see something to determine if you like it or hate it is not acceptable. You must pre determine that eveything is horrible from the time it's announed. Don't even wait for casting or director choices to be made. Every movie, every statue, every everything is TERRIBLE from the word go.

I'm really only watching this for Applegate and Davis.

Looks like a funny modern movie, though I don't like Helms. But I'll take him for a comedy film over Melissa McCarthy, and Bill Hader just isn't the same. What's with his dramatic movies now? It's depressing.

Loud? Of course not. Well, except when Clark lost control of the car. Not once, but twice. Or when they realized the Aunt was dead. Gross and obnoxious? Never. Well, other than dragging a dog to it's death behind a car for laughs. Or strapping an dead old woman to the roof of a car, in a rain storm, and dumping her body in a back yard. Nothing gross about Clark eating a sandwich a dog had peed on. Nope, the old film was all about the subtle humor. :D

well one thing is to yell because the character is reacting to something... and another thing is to have a loud personality and tone through the whole thing
same goes for the grossness. we never see the dog behind the car. or we never see the old woman (since she was wrapped) we never see the dog peeing on the sandwich itself.

if this movie did these jokes, you could bet we will see a dog's corpse, or a dog getting run over (in CGI)
we would see a close up of a dog peeing (and probably pooing) on the food basket, as well as spending 4 minutes on the family throwing up
and they would probably make a joke about the old woman falling off the car on the highway and cars swerving not to hit the body (If that character was in the movie) the trailer alone already has jokes in that style

(The swimming in poo joke in the trailer is already longer than the dog pee on the food joke, the dog joke was a couple of seconds punchline, the swimming in poo water is probably going to be milked for as long as 6 minutes )

yeah im just speculating, but that's what I hate about modern comedies in general. dumb and dumber 2 is a good example of this. movies like Bridesmaids or The Heat are other examples. this has that same feeling. everything is so over the top now. the grossest and the loudest it gets the better I guess?
